To tell you the truth, I haven't been around that area too much. It's Miami Beach, which I only attend for the beach or an event like this. So, I don't know. I mean, I know there's hotels (plenty), but I wouldn't know any good, specific place to stay in. Haven't heard of any creepy hotels around that area at all. Sorry :(.

You'll be able to have a decent view. It's about the size of the sunrise musical theatre if you had ever been there. Between a 3 and 5,000 seating arena. So no matter where you are you will be able to see manson. I cant believe how many phants are going.

Revolution is a decent place but to small, it'd be way to crowded.

Revolution is a decent place but to small, it'd be way to crowded.

Revolution is great. Not only would it be a nice intimate show, but there are reachable bars.

I went there to see Cradle of filth and Lamb of God, and for right now, its the only place I would always go to see a show.

See you guys there.

Another fantastic set, and I'd be plenty content if he stuck with those songs throughout the tour. I still think the set will probably evolve though as the tour rolls on. I so cannot wait to see Little Horn, as I will go apeshit during that. And hopefully footage surfaces of Twiggy going nuts. :p

I back them settling on a firm setlist for the few dates, until they're comfortable and then changing a bit. Curfew also probably affected it. Good to see Coma White/Black retained though. I must hear it.

I write here not reading the orlando thread at all so bare with me if some of this is nothing new.

They opened with the usual piano shit, then kicked into Cruci-fiction in space. Right there I knew it was going to be a killer show.

They played singles, but little horn, comawhite/black was played. Rock n roll nigger was played.

My voice is shot right now. my neck is killing me. But god fucking damn, what a show.

Im too tired to wirite a full review. But damn.

Also, my friend booted the show audio wise, once he lets me know how the quality is, Ill upload.

I just wanted to state that Rob Holliday was fucking awesome on guitar. He added his own style to the solos and he didnt really have any fuck ups.

Manson was late on singing the second verse on Vampire.

And OURS had to have been the worst opening band ever.

Protesters, twiggy, halliday on guitar, old songs in the setlist, If I was your vampire in the middle of the show - HOLY FUCK I WANT TO SEE MM SO BAD RIGHT NOW >.<

The most striking thing with this is, IMO, the protesting - it has been a decade, the bible-thumpers should have given up by now.

I haven't had a chance to comment on the previous concert so here goes, you fucking lucky bastards. :)

Great setlist IMO, having Cruci-fiction as an opener again is very symbolic to me as it makes me recall the times in HW when Manson came back after Columbine more powerful than ever. With the recent developments and the excitement building up on us fans and notably on Manson himself, it just seems right. This is evolution...

The band seemed to sound GREAT in the videos from the previous concert, and looks like we'll have to give Rob some kudos, something I wasn't quite expecting. From the looks of it I'd say he's doing a good job. As for the protestants: the cherry on top of the cake. Keep doing it and we may have some sort of reaction from Manson which would be badass. Makes me remember the good old times...

Summing it all up, you guys are so lucky you're able to see this, and I seriously hope he considers returning to Europe sometime soon so we can have that privilege as well.

Be_Obscene
01-21-2008, 09:05 AM
I seriously hope he considers returning to Europe sometime soon so we can have that privilege as well.

If anything, all european countries should cooperate to somehow make the band travel here again in a not-too-distant-future.

We weren't raped, only sexually harrassed comparing to what the US has got with both Slayer (I can see why that is US-exclusive though) and this.

Nobody has mentioned that after Crucifixion I noticed him coughing before going on to the next song. After that one was over he announced that he has bad laryngitis and a doctor advised him NOT to do the show. He said hell no to that there was no way he was gonna miss playing this show. It was clear from then on that he struggled at times and his voice was noticibly hoarse.

In addition, at least 2 or 3 times throughout the show, he made a distinct point of recognizing Miami "as the place where it all started" and seemed sincere in thanking the crowd on numerous occasions.

Yeah, they claimed they had been making music for 20 years, and their third album, which they had been working on for 5 years, was due out this year.

People heckled them, but they weren't too bad. The vocalist was possibly the worst part of the band.

I'm guessing this was the same band that played for us. The frontman got booed the entire time. Shit thrown at him.
The guitarist was cool, though. Pointed us in the direction of Manson's bus. :-)

This tour is not really an era - but transition into another. It still has the EMDM feel of the stage, especially with the dress of the band. But the ACSS props I think are getting more back to the theatrics of a big show which is what I hope Manson goes for on the next album. Just something grand on all levels.

You haven't got a bigger version of it, have you? I just did the same but had to put several Photoshop effects on it (1280x1024...) so it's not as "detailed" any more.

Nope, I just stretched it out. It looks a bit pixelated, but it's still fine.

A bigger version would be great though :)

Hopefully the texts didn't come across fucking embarrassingly abominable. And I hope they didn't look like Cheryl's dog typed it up...as Hazekiah described our interview.

Just like I've already told you a billion times, sixpastsix, and as is clearly apparent in the chat logs, in my opinion the interview is phenomenal -- interesting questions with fascinatingly detailed and sprawling responses from Manson. That part couldn't have gone better.

As you ought to know, my point was that the transcription of the interview is severely lacking in quality.

Numerous spelling and grammatical errors coupled with questionable transcriptions of the printed answers in relation to the audio (even to the point of misrepresenting what was said) make the piece look very, very poorly written. That's not a problem with the interview, that's a mistake in the transcription phase on the way to publication.

You guys were in a rush and it certainly must've been a difficult job to transcribe some of those answers faithfully, so it's understandable to a degree. But refusing to correct the problems because you didn't like my choice of words when I thought I was participating in an open chat amongst friends who'd given their consent beforehand for me to speak freely and openly on the matter is sheer folly.

Again, my intent was to help make the trascription better reflect the quality of the interview itself as well as the excellent layout of the presentation -- there was a discussion of some typos which needed correction within the news archives and it seemed like an appropriate place to add my suggestion of a more thorough job of proofreading for the interview.

Once more, I'm sorry if you were hurt by my choice of words, but the chat logs you read were taken out of context. Prior to the typo-correction discussion, the conversational tone of the chat was that of ribald and sarcastic internet humor between presumed-friends (donkeypunch jokes, tubgirl, and, yes, Cheryl anecdotes, were all representive of my lead-in before making the point), and the form in which I addressed the proofreading issue was merely a continuation of a theme -- if Norsefire had a problem with my choice of words I'd have thought he'd have mentioned it during the at-least-five-hour stretch of time afterwards while we continued chatting, but, of course, that didn't happen, and we just went on with our friendly and pleasant IRC escapades.

Don't be mistaken...my problem was never with the interview.

Haz can suck Cheryl's dog's dick if he didn't like that interview.

Now, consider this, my dedication to and heartfelt fandom of Manson is easily one of the cornerstones of my being -- something I'd think would be apparent to anyone who knows me, whether through a website or personally -- so does ragging on one of the best interviews he's ever given really sound like something I'd do???

He didn't say he didn't like the interview, he said it was horribly transcribed. If you're going to hate on him, do it for the right reason.

Thank you.

What were you intersted in starting then...this? Because it could've been avoided and the fact that it wasn't isn't entirely my fault.

Furthermore, it wouldn't have been an argument anyhow, it would've been a simple matter of me clarifying and reiterating my real point, even though it should have been clear enough the first few times I stated in the chat that the interview wasn't the problem, it was the sloppy transcription.

And, actually, I don't like to go on and on about shit like this.

It would be awesome if you guys could get past your initial reactions against my choice of words and see that the piece really does need some polishing and that I'm only trying to help by pointing that out.

Which was, after all, the only reason I mentioned it.

You guys are getting all worked up about this and seem to think that I'm railing against the bosses of the office over what amounts to a batch of secreterial errors, despite my repeated attempts from the outset to demonstrate otherwise.

MY REVIEW OF LAST NIGHTS SHOW.

Sorry Fellow Phants i was just to tired to come on last night but anyways lets get this started

OURS sucked major ass! Period!

1) Crucifiction in Space - Was a fucking amazing opener! Thats really all i can say for that song just awesome
2) Disposable Teens - What can you say about that song besides its a def sing along song
3) Irresponsible Hate Anthem - They had the old antichrist backdrop which was awesome, and the we hate love, we love hate chant it was truely awesome.
4) Great Big White World - I sat down during that song which made it a good experience, much slower. . i was never much for this song live after holywood era but it was still a good performance!
5) mOBSCENE - Wore the usual pin striped jacket and such with the hat, and twiggy and rob sang be obscene part.
6) If I Was Your Vampire - This song should have been taken off the setlist it didnt sound right in the middle of the set and was to long, but it was still a good performance.
7) Heart Shaped Glasses - The robot, that looked like evan which was really cool, and the heart shaped symbol in the background.
8) Sweet Dreams - Was cool but then it kicked into rock in roll nigger halfway threw which was fucking awesome!
9) Rock n Roll Nigger - How can u hate that song, one of the best highlights!
11) Tourniquet - I walked out to get a beer during this song, but thats because i find this song boreing.
12) Little Horn - WAS THE BEST SONG OF THE SETLIST! He did a good job with this live!
13) Putting Holes in Happiness - Typical, nothing to special about it
14) The Dope Show - haha The i need my fix that he usally sings before it, then the big sign of drugs behind him, and the drugs they say are made in miami, and he dropped his pants and started playing with his butt haha!
15) Rock is Dead - Now that was pretty good, since i have stated in the past it was boreing live, but it was good acually esp when it went ''god is in the tv'' they had all the strobe lights going constant. It looks great!
16A) Coma White / COMA BLACK - Now that was great, he did comawhite awesome but his voice sounded so shot, im sorry if anyone disagrees ur crazy, It wasnt dead, and he did say something about being sick and aids haha which was cool. But i love how it changed into comablack but when it did he spent half the time on the floor, and the end of the song in a moan, but all in all, it was great and im fucking glad he played it.
17) The Reflecting God - Started with happiness is a warm gun like usual. I went ape shit during this song, the typical. . god, priest, kill, flashing in the background and there was no lift like in previous shows. so it was pretty good, he didnt sing no salvation no forgiveness part he held that out tio the crowd n started the forgiveness a little early but still it was awesome!
18) The Beautiful People - haha Good performance but it reminded me of something i saw on the AAG tour, like at rockamring 05, same background. . with hitler, george bush, and a couple others flashing in the background. He walked out onto the crowd during the last verse of the song as he usally does and there was no confetti or smoke shooting out from the corners like usual.
19) Antichrist superstar - Same podium, buring bible which was cool since he didnt play it at west palm in july, which pissed me off. But anyways it was cool. . .but u could tell he was either drunk, or his voice was really dead because he didnt scream the last part at all, and stayed leaning over the podium half the time. All in all it was awesome. Kinda disappointed he ended with this song. Wish there was one more...

You guys already know about the protestors which were halarious, some lady handed me a 1million bill, which was fake of course, and she said, spread the love for jesus, and we lit it up in front of her and smoked it. haha! Im mad because if they really wanted to spread the word of jesus they could have atleast gave me a slice of pizza, those bastereds!

parking was a bitch! and there were alot of cool people there, didnt see any phants there but all in all it was a great show.

Once again you make a big reply for nothing, I know what your point is no need to bang on about it, yesterday you said it in such a degrading way towards us who worked on it, like I said before, you have annoyed me. And no it wouldnt and shouldnt be an argument, but im sure it could have gone down that path. Im all for criticism and honesty, but it was how you said it.

This appears to have been yet another amazing concert, and I don't want to detract from that, but I'm not the one who brought it up in here, that was sixpastsix, thankyouverymuch. (And if you know what my point was, could you please explain it him? Because he obviously still doesn't get it.)

And I would've never brought it up in here in the first place, but it certainly seemed appropriate to respond to the comment within the thread in which it had been posted...or am I supposed to simply let misrepresentations of my point and attempts to malign my character go unchallenged in what's probably one of the most-viewed threads in this entire forum at the moment???

And, according to 6:06 at least, part of his beef with me was that I was discussing the matter in an open chat (which, I hasten to remind you, consisted of roughly five people at that point, most of if not all of whom were senior members), which I thought was actually fairly discreet. The interview threads are massively more public than the chat and seem to be more oriented towards congratulations and discussion of the content, so I didn't think it seemed appropriate there, but whatever.

Lastly, if you have a problem with how I said what I said, especially considering the context and that you gave permission to speak candidly on the matter when it was requested by me, then I'd say you're not really as "all for criticism and honesty" as might believe yourself to be.

:-\

Anyway, getting back on-topic, I'm glad to hear the show went well and that everyone had such a good time.

This latest leg of the Rape of the World Tour is truly a new level of kicking ass being thrown down and I'm almost lapsing increasingly into a state of absolute shock as further reports from the front lines emerge.

Big thanks to everyone who's posted pictures, videos, details, and reviews -- it's much appreciated.

Haz, shut the fuck up. Here is your chat log. I never once said you didnt like the interview. We all said, what I have pasted below.

<+Hazekiah> That "Everyone Will Suffer Now" transcription is fucking embarrassingly abominable. It looks like Cheryl's dog typed it up. FULL TO THE BRIM with spelling errors, grammatical errors, and questionable transcriptions of Manson's answers (relative to the audio). Not to mention asking a question which was already addressed in his book. It hurts my brain to read it. :(
<+Hazekiah> That said, the interview itself is pretty fucking awesome. It's just the transcription that's holding it back. Looks like a third grade special ed. project.
<+Norsefire> what was the question that was in his book?
<+Hazekiah> Oh, by "looks like" I meant the transcription, of course...the presentation is killer, otherwise. Especially your cameo, lol.
<gabetoxic> true... i picked up on it when i read it the second time, listening to the audio from some of the answers... at the end of the first one, when manson said there would be a Smells Like Children attitude going on, and the text showed "smells like children added to the set"... i get that could be heard wrong or something, but it changes the whole meaning of it...
<+Hazekiah> The first meeting with Axl Rose. It's discussed in numerous interviews from the past decade, too.
<+Hazekiah> Yeah, that's one of many, Gabe. Howdy, btw. :)
<+Hazekiah> Oh, and Jack submitted a retarded question on the Red Carpet Grave interview, too. It happens. If he would've actually submitted his questions "publicly" in the Senior Forum we could've caught it, though. :-\
<gabetoxic> which one?
<+Norsefire> Well im pleased with how the interview turned out.
<+Hazekiah> The one about playing the Doppleherz audio for the Interscope reps...previously addressed in at least three interviews.
<gabetoxic> yeah, i remember that being addressed when GOAG was being released
<+Hazekiah> Yeah, like I said, the interview itself is great, even with the redundant question...it's the transcription that's absolutely terrible.
<+Hazekiah> I understand it was probably a rush job and all, but damn...
<+Norsefire> Well I think we did a good job in the time we had to get it all done and up and ready
<gabetoxic> yeah, it was a long interview, they were probably trying to get it posted ASAP,
<gabetoxic> it happens
<+Hazekiah> Yeah, for a rush job it gets the point across. Kind of. And really, really badly here and there. But it needs MASSIVE retooling for the archives, imho.
<gabetoxic> i agree with haz on that one... now that it's been posted, the site had the exclusive and all, it could be corrected...

the show was awesome, Twiggy was the same old Twiggy it was awesome when he dumped glitter all over his face and flip out with his bass like it was back in Holy Wood :D
Little Horn was fucking amazing... to me it was a bit unexpected, when they were getting ready to play the song Twiggy had 2 fingers pointing out of his head like horns and you hear the guitar intro that was amazing, and the highlight of my night was Coma White/Black.... it blew me away.
one thing that annoyed the shit out of me was Rob. seriously in my opinion Rob is the worst guitarist ever out of all the Mansons guitarists.
during Hear Shaped Glasses his equipment stopped working and he flipped out and kicked the pedals which i thought was pretty lame, then he fucking buchered Coma White's main riff and Putting Holes' solo. I dont know what his problem is but he kind of fucking ruined Coma White. I still enjoyed the song n all, but the more I think about it the more it fucking botheres me.

well Rob as a bassist, hes pretty good, no doubt at about that, if he could learn 20 songs on Bass he could pretty much learn 20 songs on the Guitar, i knew how to play every song that was played last night and it didnt take me that long to learn everyone of em.
Rob's a good guitarist, but to compare with Manson's other guitarist such as John5 and even Skold, hes way below the level.

Haz, shut the fuck up. Here is your chat log.

Okay, thank you for posting the excerpt from the chat log (which I already had, by the way).

My earlier comment about it being "out of context" was prompted by having already seen the excerpt that's been floated around after the fact...it's starts with me apparently launching into a tirade and doesn't show how everyone in the room had been laughing and joking around like IRC jackasses while we talked about some fairly disgusting things using rather colorful language...in short, typical internet humor.

The tonality of the excerpt you've posted is merely a continuation of that same language, since the whole dialogue about typo-correction was a maybe-ten-minute digression in the middle of about ten hours worth of silly joking around on the IRC board.

Again, I thought I was talking amongst friends, not testifying before the Supreme fucking Court. I didn't realize I'd be expected to preface every single comment with detailed footnotes and acknowlegements. It was an off-the-cuff chat, for fuck's sake.

Nonetheless, anyone who reads the chat should be able to see that I made sure to insert several clarifications and complements about the interview and its presentation -- not to mention my objection regarding a close friend of mine about a related matter from a previous interview -- so it should be clear that the issue was never a personal one, for me. I was just trying to help by pointing out some flaws that need corrected and by using language in keeping with hours-upon-hours of discussion beforehand which were meant to serve the point by showing just how bad the flaws made things look.

So thanks for that, at least.

Well Haz, I think you could have approached it better without the petty remarks of the dog and 3rd grade etc. I let you speak candidly because you mentioned about wanting to say something, I cant remember what but you said something about an error in the news, which I asked about and I dont think you gave me a full reply, which is why I let you say what you wanted to.

Again, it wasn't meant to be petty or malicious...I was addressing the transcription job, nothing more. And if you could get your hands on more thorough logs or simply summon forth your memories of the conversations leading up to my comments I believe you'll find that my wording was completely in keeping with how every other topic had been approached.

If I'd have realized that my description of a bunch of typos and the like would be taken so personally, or that they were being recorded for posterity (or, indeed, that my audience was apparently unaware of the implications of granting someone permission to speak candidly) I probably would've taken more care in phrasing them. Again, it was a fucking chat.

And, for the record, I did give a full reply about the News correction I suggested.

First, someone else mentioned the the typo they found in one news article. Then I added another, the typo "Holywood" in the News item about Twiggy rejoining the band, which you might remember me adding was understandable given that the typo had been copied-and-pasted as-is from the official site's announcement.

Back on-topic again: good unholy Christ, those are awesome fucking pictures!!!! Many, MANY thanks!!!

Yes, I remember that. Made me proud of living here, haha :P. I honestly have to say that he did an amazing job having that problem with his throat. If you didn't know any better, you wouldn't had known he had that problem with just hearing him singing. Seriously one of the best shows ever, and I had a great time with Zac, Tom, Dawn, and Alex [thank you guys :D, can't wait to see the pics]. The setlist was absolutely phenomenal, it was shame he couldn't play 1996 in the ending though. Nonetheless, the ending with Antichrist Superstar was breathtaking. Everything about the show was great (imagery, his performance, music, etc, etc.) and I loved being so close to him when I was in the PIT. If I was able to go his next performance I would, but unfortunately, I can't :(.

Basically, amazing show and peformance...and it was great to have Twiggy back!! (In the middle of the show some random guy started screaming "TWIGGY!!", and then I screamed "Welcome back!!!" Hehe, it was great) =D.

<3.

Edit: Forgot to mention the old man that was passing out (before the show) flyers saying "Repent or your souls will burn", lol. He was going around to everyone trying to get them to read it and/or pay attention to him. It was hilarious. When he came next to me, I was just dancing/singing to the Manson music 93.1 ROCK was putting outside, lol. :P

Well, then go for it, but keep it in it's place (http://www.mansonusa.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1377267#post1377267), I don't think this belongs in this thread, either.

EDIT: Phfft. Six posts, no hate, and then the thread got locked. Hmm. Well, I tried, at least.

I could've sworn I'd read something somewhere about Hate Anthems being a no-holds-barred forum...

That said:

It's okay Haz-been. Use this on your resume. I'm sure alot of companies are looking for a cub-scout nearing his 30's who likes to flirt with girls under the age of 18. Put down the lightbulb, and stop back-peddling. What's done is done....you are a fucking snake.

No back-peddling involved...it should be clear to anyone who's read the chat transcript and this thread that I'm standing my ground, actually.

And I retired from the institution as a Boy Scout, btw.

And is the lightbulb comment a meth/crack joke? Because I'm not really a fan of either. Sure, I've done a bit of each, but they're not really my style and I've never really given a shit about either.

But, yeah, I'll flirt with emilydarkside any time -- no real newsflash there.

Great pics Mobscene8859, they are so beautiful, and so close. But I would love to just point out something, now we all know that MM has said that he was an MJ fan, but right away I noticed that in the first picture you posted here:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v308/mobscene8859/dont_break.jpg

The hat he is wearing is the exact same hat as a hat that MJ recently used for his photo shoot with Ebony magazine. I wonder if this is in appreciation for MJ and support for his upcoming CD and possible tour. I would sure hope so. Anyways here the pics of MJ sporting that same hat:

Hey Billie Jean, thanks for pointing that out, thats pretty wicked. Are they fairly new photos of Michael Jackson?

Yup, in the December 2007 issue of Vogue, it was for the 25th anniversary of Thriller. It contained his first US interview since the trial and a really nice write up, plus new pictures. I have the full story scans if anyone wants them, not great quality, I didn't scan them myself, but you can clearly read the articles and interviews if you want. Plus the pics are great. But I did find that intresting how he is wearing the same hat, I had to point it out.

You have to just take a chance and be prepaired to check it or walk it to your car if security catches you at the door.. I didnt bring cam to the orlando show , and I had a room 1 block from the venue in Miami, or if security didnt let me in I would have went back to the room and droped it off... my buddy brought his camera to the Hard rock Orlando and security made him check it . This is the cam I use http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=145&modelid=14919 its small and easy to hide and takes a good vid .

FreakyD - Fucking awesome videos man. Thanks a ton, very nice work.

Edit: I didn't realize "Rock n Roll Nigger" was played in full, that's awesome! I thought it was just used as an outro, like what "Lunchbox" was during the summer tour with Slayer. The good news just keeps on coming! And props to Manson for going through the show like he did, it must've been terribly frustrating to have to sing on that raw of a throat. They all truly look and sound glorious.

I've never heard him sing like that before (Referring to Rock N' Roll Nigger). Did he lose his voice the night before or is he just trying to cut down on the screaming a little bit so he does it really good when I see him on the 1st? xD

He sounds quite ill indeed during "If I Was Your Vampire" (which you can find on FreakyD's account, but I imagine he's still busy uploading more videos so he hasn't posted them here yet), and despite an excellent vocal performance considering being under the weather, it's pretty evident. :\ I also notice an "echo" vocal effect. The band works overtime helping him out with giving him some leeway, though. :)

I'm not feeling tourniquet. Not liking much of what Rob is doing with it. Or the other songs for that matter.

But it is asking a fair bit to expect him to be perfect at all these songs in less than a few weeks.

Hope he practices a lot more and gets better soon. His guitar sounds a little too detuned too.

I agree with OBSCENE(S)AINT on Tourniquet and mOBSCENE. Didn't quite enjoy the way Rob played it as much as I hoped I did, and to me doesn't seem like it has anything to do with learning/rehearsing the songs, it's more like a personal touch that I dislike.

I was thinking they were P90 pickups or something less gain friendly. Honestly, I'd be interested in seeing his gear setup. I remember seeing Skolds rig and really there wasn't much I'd call in there as "good tone worthy". I'd like to see a Mesa, Marshall or some other tube up there cranked for some heavy distortion. I got tired of that solid state sounding gain they used for years.

I have a video if it from the first show. It is very large though, and I don't have the tools to compress it. I agree. Tim is technically better, which really shows on songs like sweet dreams and putting holes in happiness, and I dare say was better than rob for tourniquet.

Rob seems to have a very heavy gritty edge to his sound, kind of worse than zim, but I'm hoping it's just him getting reaquainted to the instrument? He might be too use to the bass and is playing that through to guitar.

Maybe they should switch them? He did alright on bass, but too heavy on guitar

I agree on Tourniquet, but it's not exactly the easiest song in the Manson catalog to play, either. I like Rob's sound, like his style, LOVE his guitar(that is one beautiful piece of machinery), and he gives a shit about what he's doing, and for speaking for myself that excuses any nominal errors that he makes during the show. That, and he is definitely putting his own stamp on things(Sweet Dreams, The Dope Show), which is pretty impressive since the guy had a really short amount of time to learn the material on guitar. He'll be fine, trust.

well, can't say i'm too happy with how the phih solo sounded... but i still like rob's playing.

Rob seems to have a very heavy gritty edge to his sound, kind of worse than zim, but I'm hoping it's just him getting reaquainted to the instrument? He might be too use to the bass and is playing that through to guitar.

am i the only person that like zims shitty playing? i mean he played all the tracks dirty. technically, he wasnt that good a live guitarist. but i thought it fit in with dead to the world well.

I think Rob sounds terrible! Hopefully he's drunk or tweeked out of his mind and his playing will improve when the excitement of playing guitar ceases to inspire these seemingly crippling drug binges(allegedly). Anything that can explain away the horrific choices he's making on note selection, tone etc. is why I'm hoping that he's stoned to all hell. I'm all for change but he sounds worse than Mark. It better be the drugs or something related to debauchery. Bring back Skold or 5 if this is his best.

Oh and thanks for the awesome vids, kids:)

Someone at the portuguese community forums posted a few videos which I haven't seen here. If they were already posted, sorry -

The Dope Show

Seriously Rob, I hope this is just you getting used to play guitar again, because if not... It's kinda disappointing. If I was Skold I'd beat him senseless after watching PHIH.

You know what's funny, Skolds first few attempts at GBWW were pretty crappy - hell he even butchered his own solos on PHIH for the first little while. So let's not get all high and mighty. If the guy who wrote the solos messes up, then someone else who had LESS time to learn obviously gets a little slack.

You guys' are so freaking judgmental over the stupidest shit. Seriously, I'm just going to start posting all the videos of Skold and ZimZum fucking up songs worse then this.

worse than Mark ? are you kidding ?!

From what I've seen in the videos, Rob's sound seems to fit perfectly. I'm not sure about the Sweet Dreams and PHIH solo, but I love his heavy sound.

and yeah it's weird to see someone else playing the PHIH solo, it was really "Tim's song", with his style, attitude and sound.

Rob is really a metalhead, I remember that he said in past interviews that he did not like solos. But remember that he had to learn all the songs in 2 weeks.

This isn't "the stupidest shit". I know what you mean by Skold messing up pretty badly in the beginning of the tour, but to me it seems more like a personal touch that Rob is trying to put in there, as mentioned earlier.

I know it's still too early to make up my mind about Rob, I was just telling you what I thought of that particular performance. Yes, I believe and hope he will get better with each concert. We'll see.

All right, now that I've heard PHIH, I agree his guitar playing needs to be tweaked a bit. But I still stick by the fact that I like how he's playing The Dope Show. I'm confident in his abilities.

Based on what? Listen to the solo, the way it is written leaves it open to improvisation in the live environment. That's what makes it great. Variance in style does not mean the guy doesn't know his way around the fretboard, which is pretty goddamn clear in every video. Some of you act like fucking "Putting Holes into Happiness" is the piece of landmark musicianship of the past twenty years for God's sake. And please, out of all of the videos posted so far, I beg you to point out all of these supposed fatal errors that Rob is making that is making everyone jump off the cliffs(Tourniquet aside). I'm not sure whether it's just a cumulation of downright willful ignorance or just flat out not knowing what the hell you are talking about in the slightest.

^ Amen dude. Fuck people, get off Rob's back already. Manson fans are by far the worst fans ever. Give the dude a fucking break, seriously. I was at both shows, and they sounded fucking great. It's like you all WANT him to suck and refuse to cut him any slack or give him any fucking credit. Way to go guys!!

No offense to anyone but I think it's kind of fair not to cut Rob any slack. I mean hell, there were some people that cut Tim slack in 2003 the majority of them thought he was the worst shit in the world. It's the whole hazing process.

As for the solo. I'll just keep my mantra as 'he's new and trying to put his style into it.'

Your prespective might be a little biased then, don't you think? There's so much more to care about when you are there.

I'm with you here, what I said was that I did not like that same improvisation. It's not like I'm saying he's not a good musician. I just didn't like the way it sounded as much as I liked it with past Manson guitarists (Skold included). And no, I don't like PHIH that much. That's it, and if you have a different opinion fine, but I see no ground for you to come here bitching as if someone said he didn't know what he was doing up there. But then again, as 6:06 just said, Manson fans have a nasty habit of being arrogant cunts, so... no hardfeelings.

I really like the way he pulled of the solo in PHIH.
Very nice touch to it.A half minute solo gets boring when it's the same everytime so this was something refreshing.

I pretty much agree with GunsofBrixton. As a guitarist, I am a very firm believer in improvisation and changing things up. I am a huge fan of Skold and I think the solo that he wrote for PHIH is a great one, but he never really changed it up or did anything special with it live. It was just the same solo we've all heard before, night after night. To me, that's pretty boring and it's something any guitarist can do. It takes real skill to play an improvised guitar solo and make it work and I think that Rob accomplished that, based on that video of PHIH that was posted a page back. However, I'm not saying Tim is a bad guitarist, or that he can't improvise (he did put his own spin on the Sweet Dreams solo). I love Tim and have a tremendous amount of respect for him as a musician.

Personally, I love Rob's solo. I think he did a fine job with it. I wish people would stop making things a constant contest between members of the band.

Anyway, thanks for the videos, everyone. They're all awesome.

Thanks for all the videos that've been posted. I love Rob's guitar playing. I can see why some people would have problems with it, but I'm totally into it.

And I'm not sure who has read this and who hasn't, but I found this excerpt from an interview with Rob Holliday that took place a few years back and thought it was pretty interesting:

Q: Tell us more about the time when Sulpher supported Marilyn Manson in Dresden... what was it like opening up for him?

A: It was cool to support Manson. We were surprised at the warm response we got from his audience, they were into us right away. The best part was looking out and seeing so many Sulpher t-shirts in the crowd and so many people who knew the words to our songs. It's a strange feeling.

Q: As you know, Marilyn Manson's guitarist quit the "Spooky Kids" recently. Given your talent for adapting to a variety of different bands Rob, would you ever be tempted to fill his New Rock boots if the opportunity arose - maybe just a little bit?

A: Play for Marilyn Manson ….. hmmm I don't look very good in make-up! I'm not sure why John Lowery (John 5) left - he's a great guitar player. Maybe he got too many bruises from flying projectiles coming from Manson!
