You really get there that early?
For the Melbourne GB show in '03 I was still in Napoleon Perdis in Little Collins st getting my makeup done at 6:30pm.
I've usually rocked up to the venue about 45 mins or so before doors open and I've always managed to be up the front against the rail directly in front of John 5 by the second song. but then I'm a big guy and can push myself forward through the crowd, I usually get teenage girls asking me to help them get to the front with me, I don't mind looking out for the younger people in the mosh too much.

The show is probably still on at this moment, but I hope everyone enjoyed it,
I bought a ticket but as I was sneaking out of the house to go, some friend who was pissed off with me called up my parents and told them about it.
(lucky for me, a friend had my ticket and was able to sell it for me)
If anyone has any footage or photographs from the show, I'm very interested in seeing them.
(Oh wow, first post. I've been a lurker for a while. =p)

I've been reading the boards for ages but only just signed up so I could officially say: oh my fucking god!!! This was my first Manson show and it kicked so much ass I don't even know where to begin.
The set list was different to what I was expecting which was a nice surprise - some of the less spectacular songs people were complaining about were removed and replaced by some of the older concert songs.... From what I recall we got to hear:
If I Was Your Vampire
Disposable Teens
mOBSCENE
Irresponsible Hate Anthem
Sweet Dreams, with a bit of Lunchbox mixed in
The Fight Song
The Dope Show
Rock Is Dead
The Reflecting God
Antichrist Superstar, complete with bible burning
The Beautiful People
and somewhere in there were Just A Car Crash Away, Heart Shaped Glasses and Putting Holes in Happiness
We also got to hear the *great* music of the Spazzy's before hand :P I spent that useful performance time spending ridiculous amounts of money on t-shirts and stuff at the merchandise stand, but from what I could hear those guys were screamed at to all hell and were little shit stirrers themselves, taunting the crowd and all that.
Manson came on sometime around 9 and though there were a lot of songs to get through the concert itself seemed really short and maybe it was just me, but it seemed like it ended kind of abruptly, no encore or anything like other shows have reported...
Not one of the pictures I took came out, and the sound on my phone is atrocious so I don't have any pictures or videos to offer... but did anyone else happen to get any good photos or recordings they could share?
And did I miss any songs off the set list? I'm still kind of dazed at the moment...

Oh my god...best concert ever!
The mosh was insane, the lights were bright and the music loud.
He's still got it, anyone who says otherwise is fucking stupid!
Also, an interesting story, my best mate happened to piss off the manager of The Spazzys. We were standing there after they finished their first song, and immediately the whole crowd started shouting abuse at them (as one would expect).
My mate shouted 'You SUCK!' before the second song, and next thing we know, the man in a suit standing beside us leans over and starts yelling:
"You're a fuckwit mate, show some fucking respect! I'd like to see you do better, you're a fucking fuckwit!!!!"
The man walks away, and next thing we know he's up ON STAGE, at the little sound desk, stage right, watching The Spazzys and giving orders to the roadies.

So many words goin through my head, its all a bunch of rambly jambly.
Okay so first, this shitty aussie pop girl punk band "the spazzys" played, i was at the front, the very fucking front for the whole concert.
"the spazzy's" were so horrible and EVERYONE hated them and the girls on stage would keep saying "you guys should learn to smile"
heres a list of what they said :o
"Melbourne were so much worse than you guys"
"heres ANOTHER love song your gonna love it"
and more, but im too fucking psyched to make much sense yet.
okay so no body at all was moving, for their whole performance they got nothing out of the crowd.
no one was jumping or doing anything, it was actually pretty funny to turn around and look at a whole crowd of people remaining completely still.
i pretty much had my GF' behind for the whole thing, and my friends next to me, so we all just talked to random's around us and sort of "organised" for Manson.
so i talked to the roadie's and the body guards, the body guards were a bit weirded out because no one was dancing. none of them had seen a Manson concert, at least not the ones i talked to.
before i go further i should mention that i dragged my friends to the lines at around 12pm and met up with another friend who got their around 9am so we all waited in 32 degree's UNTIL 4pm when heavy clouds just swept over the place, it went from boiling and sweaty to freezing our arses off, we all dressed for hot weather too >:l
so the spazzys finally gave up and we all talked for a while, the roade's shat out fog and gasses us all! >:u
slipknot is playing off in the background, the girl next to me tells us that Manson arranged the music so that a prodigy song played last and then Manson would come on. the girl was someone who paid 4000$ just to follow mManson across Australia, she was pretty cool. she met ginger fish the day before and asked him about set lists and ginger told her that Manson decides on the day what songs and and what order.
The prodigy song ended and Manson was behind the curtain, we could see him, he was just moving his arms slowly, playing with the crowd.
he came out and started "if i was your vampire" and THATS when you saw that no matter how you saw this performance recorded, you HAD to be there to get it, it wasn't about Manson singing at all it was about what he did with the crowd, he performed WITH the audience, not for, that why he sounds so horrible on youtube.
it was just so beautiful...
HE also did the whole talking things, a few shitty details though: when he did rock is dead, he got the crowd to go "ROCK, ROCK" but it didn't carry on because people only expected it in the fight song. when he asked Sydney "IS IIT AS FUCKING HOT FOR YOU AS IT IS FOR ME" no one screamed because we'd just spent an hour in the cold and rainy weather. he got pissed off twice esp with the rock thing, he just looked so surprised :(
anyway, it was unreal in itself to see him actually standing there, i was at the front, and i did everything i could to get his attention, i think he looked around me once or twice but that was all, or maybe enough because half way through the beautiful people he came down off the stage and stood pretty much in front of where i was, he didn't look at me though, of course the hands like reached out, it as AMAZING TO SEE HIS FACE so close to mine, just insane.
i just put my hand up on his chest, right on his heart (i had to make sure he was human ;) ), my GF reached out and groped him and that got his attention :) he looked down at her surprised.
before he got pulled away i got my arms slightly on him but that was nothing compared to just having my hand on that freaking shirt he wears everywhere :P
a few other things:
he combined sweet dreams and lunchbox together, he did the "when i grow up i wanna be..." thing, and he tested the volume of the crowd and our side won , he got up and just said "okay, how'bout a guitar solo"
and skold played it, skold was really good too, he was just fucking perfect is all i can really say.
There's allot more but yeah, this might be in the wrong section but i thought it was cool enough to be read worthy.
And lastly:
Ginger had fun, smiled through the whole thing
Skold was perfect, did everything you think he would
Manson was phenomenal and, AND
Evan Rachel wood filmed the whole thing from our side of the stage so he kept coming over and singing to her :D <- I couldn't see her very well, but every around me could and he did sing heart shaped glasses in that general direction :P
If you read this i hope it didnt suck heaps XP
oh yeah and i sang to every fucking song so now my voice is broked :P and everyone sounded like machines, all squeaky like o.o
it was my GF'S first tie in a mosh too :o
If your from Aus tell me here what you saw!

I'm not from Austrailia but I know this is the wrong section.
MERGED.
Also, the black stripe is cool, but it's been done before. The neon pink was rad, even if it could've used some definition around the eyes.

Allow me to divulge my experience.
I have limited concert experience (my first real concert was Placebo last year, and that was pretty damn quiet), so I had more or less no idea what to expect. I just decided the most I could hope for would be to get out of the concert alive, and anything else would be bonus.
Once the doors opened, my boyfriend immediately hit the front barrier - I was a little worried about getting to the front, seeing as I'm extremely tiny and breakable and had no moshing experience prior to this concert. But I scrambled my way to the front, and many nice people helped get me closer until I was about two rows from the front. There were two girls in between me and my boy, and they said "Being here means more to us than you can imagine - if you push in front of us, we'll bash you; otherwise, we'll keep an eye on you because you're a mosh-virgin."
Eventually it didn't matter - the crowd shifted, the guy behind me pushed me foward, and I was sandwiched between my boy and this massive guy behind me. I was pretty much in the first row with my boyfriend, in my first mosh pit, for MARILYN FUCKING MANSON.
People kept being dragged over me, knees and boots smacking into the back of my head as security guards helped people out as they passed out or suffocated, and I was scared it was going to be me next.
Then, during "The Beautiful People", Manson came of the stage to the front row. He was only a few centimetres away from my fingertips, then I managed to grab his knee. Then I was touching his chest. Then I rubbed his crotch. And he turned and looked at me, staring at my face with those fucking eyes, make-up streaming down his face, looking almost surprised to see a body attached to the hand that was groping him.
Just me paying him back for everything he and his music's done to/for me.
As he was dragged back, my boy and I looked at each other, eyes wide and screaming with ecstasy.
So, review of my first mosh:
I didn't pass out.
I was pressed against my boy for the entire concert.
I was practically in the front row.
I groped Manson, and he looked at me.
Not a bad way to lose my mosh-virginity, wouldn't you say?

If your from Aus tell me here what you saw!
Ha, too funny, was down the front when he jumped down stage left near the barricade, I must have been like 5 rows back, utterly surreal to be nothing more than 3 meters away from him.
It was so unbelievably hot, you could barely see the stage at one point, just so much stem in the air from all these sweaty goths melting away in PVC. I personally thought the fucking crowd a bit lame, everyone at the front seemed utterly obsessed with taking photos and recording the show on their phone - what ever happened actually enjoying the show?
It's the same show he does on the entire tour, so you can get photos from anywhere, it's all going to be the same imagery and outfits.
Speaking of outfits, I LOVED "The Fight Song" boxing outfit ha, just shows where he's at now, especially when you compare to "Little Horn" on stilts back in 1997.
I think he's certainly got it, maybe a little more restrained these days, but he genuinely seemed to be enjoying himself, which can only be a good sign for his longevity and desire to keep going.
I thought the Mechanical Animals show at London Brixton Academy (which got KKKKK in Kerrang Magazine) was the best show I've seen him play, but last night was great, I would have liked a few more tracks from MA or ACS - Tourniquet, Dried Up Tied Up And Dead To The World, Coma White, Big White World all noticeable in their absence.
But the tracks from EMDM actually sounded way better live than on the record which surprised me. Band was solid, not much interaction between members mind you and I missed John5. Skold just looked like one cool motherfucker period ha.
All up, I think it was much better than the Golden Age tour which came here in 2003, but it did seem like they picked 2 songs from each era and mashed it all together, it wasn't a themed show like say MA tour or TGAOG was, more of a retrospective with 3 new tracks. So you had the burning bible & podium from ACS, and the Lunchbox call and response vibe, Sweet Dreams with the search light - that's why I liked what he did for The Fight Song, because it was new and a different twist. Listening to that song, I would never have thought I'd see him representing it live, dressed up as boxer / KKK member!
Highlight? Mobscene went off! And I thought, "If I Was Your Vampire" was a fantastic was to kick off the show.

p.s. I love my new EMDM hoodie ha!

AntiChristSaint on other hand took up, attempted to assist some dude who was looking after some mini dudettes but got pused away towards the area infront of Skold.
Me? It took the rest of Dope Show to get out over the the left of the stage/barrier but i was able to get right up the front, yes behind a bif motherfucking BUT i did have fantasitic veiw of MR MM and Skold but i missed seeing Ginger Fish!

Hehehe, Melbourne sure did rip into the spazzies!
I think Melbourne got more crow interaction from Manson, but we ate it up, chanted out rock, be obscene, fight, he fucking loved us! He was so into our crowd.
He had someone throw a top at him a few songs in and said "someone threw me this shirt... It looks all dirty" then he rubbed down his pants and threw it back to the crowed.
Then did a long speach about some review (you can hear the speech on youtube)
he introduced tim on the guitar for lunch box and did a lot of general interaction for melbourne

I waited around the back of the Hordern a while after the concert and they came out, talked a bit and signed some stuff.
Rob also gave me 2 pics of his.. he seems really nice. ^_^
Hmm.. I would suggest perhaps taken by a paid professional?

Cool, good to see Manson with the Aussie flag!
This tour seems to have gone well, the better it goes, the more chance he has of comming back.

What a show... that was a the best gig I've ever been to.
Got there at 11, about 15 people in front of us in line. Waited around all day, first in heat, then in cold, always in moths...
When we got in, due to people pushing in line (Grrr) we were right in the center about 3rd row. My friends decided to move further down the side where there was still room on the barrier. I stayed where I was right through the spazzys... what the hell was with them? I was embarrassed to be Australian, thinking Manson would be looking at them thinking that was all we could get for a support...
When they finally got off stage, the crowd started pushing round. Some girl started saying I pushed in front of her, when actually someone gave up their spot to make room for me because I'd sold them a spare ticket in line. Her boyfriend didn't care and just wanted to beat me up, and I just moved further down with my mates, so ended up front row anyway. Unfortunately, the speaker stacks and PA blocked my view of Ginger, which I was mighty pissed about: I've been playing drums for eight years and he's my favourite drummer, and I was psyched about finally getting to see him. Nope, nothing more than the edge of a cymbal all night =S
Apart from that, it was awesome. I don't actually remember much of the bands performance. I didn't see much as I was headbanging the whole time. When my neck finally gave out (something clicked during Irresponsible Hate Anthem, it took a week for the grinding noise in my neck to go away) I resorted to repeatedly banging my whole body against the barrier. I think I was scaring the security guard in front of me =) I do remember our side of the crowd easily winning the Lunchbox sing off, Manson pretending to jack off over Tim while he was playing a solo, and Manson repeatedly walking out over the PA in front of us. He looked directly at me, which was actually kinda scary. I've seen everyone from Metallica to Cannibal Corpse live, and as excited as you are beforehand, when they get up on stage they're just normal guys playing a gig. But this was something else... that man has serious stage presence.
Was a little bit disappointed we didn't get some end of show destruction (although Chris did throw his drums of his riser), and thought it strange there was no encore, but still the best show I've been too by far.
What was the mosh like in the middle? I was on the edge so it was tame... where there circles in the middle, or was it just a big crush?
I heard a totally unconfirmed rumour from someone at the Melbourne show there was something mentioned about them coming back before too long. Anyone confirm this? *Hoping desperately*
