SLAYER and MARILYN MANSON have announced that they will co-headline a North American major-market summer tour beginning on July 25 on the East Coast. Plans are for the tour to play some twenty-five cities and wrap up early September on the West Coast. A full, confirmed schedule will be announced shortly. MANSON and SLAYER will each play full sets, and two support bands, yet to be determined, will open all shows.
Just prior to the American trek, both MANSON and SLAYER will be on tour throughout Europe, sharing the stage at three European festivals — the U.K.'s Download Festival at Donington (June 9), Greenfield Festival in Switzerland (June 15), and Sweden's Metaltown Festival (June 30).
MARILYN MANSON just wrapped up work on his upcoming June release to be titled, "Eat Me, Drink Me", which Rolling Stone magazine describes as "epic." Voted "Best Band in the World" by Kerrang! magazine, the army of noise behind Manson's bitterness is at once raw and massive when witnessing him live— "rousing the crowd with focuses ardor," states the New York Times.
Celebrating their 26th year together, the always-uncompromising SLAYER was just named "Best Live Band" in SPIN's 2006 Readers Poll, and picked up their first Grammy Award last month for "Best Metal Performance." Their latest album, "Christ Illusion" — which debuted at #5 on Billboard's album chart — takes on the U.S. government about the war in Iraq, prompting one newspaper to speculate, "If Thomas Jefferson were alive today, he undoubtedly would be listening to SLAYER."
This is the best news I've heard in fucking months.

Very interesting news...thanks!
On the negative side of things..."co-headlining" almost always means somewhat limited stage time for each band. Which sucks.
Plus, that $30 to $40 I was planning on spending on each ticket just jumped into the $50 to $60 range. Great.
Yay, I guess I either get overpriced seats, shitty seats, or lawn tickets. I'll try to contain my enthusiasm.
:-\
Furthermore, phrases like "always uncomprimising" don't belong in a news article about a "co-headlining" band. Think about it.
Damn, this should be much more exciting than it really is.
Whatever, I'm still gonna be there (x 1,000)...I just have my doubts about exactly how well this is gonna go.

Agreed i dont think Manson would release a record like Mechanical animal's and then go on tour with slayer. You never know this doesnt mean anything just because there on tour but speaking slayer has never had a ''soft'' record. I figured EMDM was gonnabe more like mellow but harder then mechanical animals with skolds industrail touch to it. But maybe wee all just wrong.. Lol. Tickets probably won't go on sale until a while after the dates are announced. In general, the official MM site is pretty good about announcing tour dates early. As in, a week or two at least in advance of when the tickets actually go on sale. I'll probably be at least another month before they start selling tickets, or even announce the dates.

Right there with you, man!!
I actually mentioned the possibility to Loopy and Vas when I finally met 'em. I thought they'd like to hear that Manson had been playing Uber Alles over the P.A. before his headlining Grotesk Burlesk shows. I said that since it was kind of like they were still opening up for him anyway (and touring at the same time) they might as well tour together again.
Vas responded with a comment about Manson being too busy with his world tour to answer their calls, but added that they'd totally be up for it and into it.

I just sent them an e-mail about it. Heh. There is a decent chance of it happening though. HuG is really into Slayer and have mentioned they'd love to play with them, and they opened for Marilyn Manson in 1995-1996, they're coming out with a new album, have been touring pretty heavily lately, they'll be off tour with Cradle of Filth in plenty of time...all the signs are there.

Well, last time I saw Slayer, the metalheadness was thick. I mean, it was like the cast of Gummo had multiplied by 100 and basically all come too see King & Co. However, it wasn't as brutal as it might seem. I mean, my best friend is a black female and she held her own right next to skinheads (not fashion skinheads either.)
They can definently be annoying, but like prison, if you mind your own, you should do fine.
Besides, most of Slayer's hardcore fans are now burnouts past their prime and can mostly just talk shit and hack phelgm.

Hello, I've been listening to your music for about two years. I also wanted to catch your Fukken Uber tour whilst you stopped in Columbus, Ohio, yet that was before I was 18. Am now, and was still pissed I missed the show. Friend of mine Sean told me it was actually great. Well, my question or request as it were, was to inquire if your band will possibily tour with Marilyn Manson and Slayer for their upcoming tour in North America. To be honest, the bands Marilyn has open for him in some cases aren't really good, and after listening to that four song teaser your band released, I was honestly impressed. HuG + Marilyn Manson = Mental Orgasm. Lots of Manson fans love HuG, is it a possibility?

"The Fight Song" and "Disposable Teens" aren't really considered as metal tracks. "Rock 'n Roll Nigger," to me, is a bit more on the punk side.

I mean there probally just gonna talk shit about manson like they've already started to saying poser goth crap. Personally i hope both openers are good and manson plays first so whomever hates him has to sit threw it just to get to slayer. But either way i hope it makes it here to florida and it's just an all out fun show. First two bands to get you all hyper~ and then manson with his amazing stage show and hopefully a better changed setlist and then ending the show with the fast beats of slayer.

1. It would piss off all the dumb Slayer fans (Yes I'm a Slayer fan and Slayer has a lot of idiot fans) and...
2. A lot of the Slayer kids would leave to make more room up front for me.

However, I'll be at as many as possible. And for all you people bitching about Manson doing a co-headliner, I'm pretty damn sure they'll be doing their own headliner afterward.

Ok, I know I'm double posting, but I just had this though. I know not a lot of you are from the Los Angeles area, but, what if Marilyn Manson does a special one time appearance as a warm up at Ozzfest on July 21st, which is here in Los Angeles. I wouldn't put it past them, and since Slipknot did a one time only show back in 2005, just makes you think even more.

$20 says Manson is on the crack pipe. Or maybe Eat Me Drink Me, sounds like a Slayer Album.
I got another reply from Hanzel Und Gretyl. At presents their looking into a Manson tour, and if nothing happens, their still going on tour to support their new album due fall of 2007.
Let us only hope, they play for Manson. It would seriously piss me off if those drunk slunt's play live for him...
Either way, I will be seeing Manson reguardless. My only concern is where. Columbus's outdoor pavilion is closing at the end of the year, and already prices there are insane for shit, because they erected an insanly rich hood around it. Will Manson and Slayer proform at one of the four indoor sites? This could very well be an arena sized tour...

I want manson to play first and then die a violent death in the slayer pit.
See and that's what I don't want. Manson on first, yes. Die in the Slayer pit? No thank you.
Personally, I was hoping for their own tour to get smaller venues like the 9:30 Club in DC or the Tabernacle in Atlanta. Cheaper tickets and more up close and personal.
I'll hit the floor if Manson plays first, but I'll have to give it serious consideration if they're last. Call me a pussy if you want to, but I really don't want to get bruised and manhandled for hours on end and not have a good time.
As far as the crowd goes, I don't think Manson fans will have a problem with the Slayer fans---it will be vice versa, if there's even a problem. You know, with the guys in makeup, Frankenstein shoes, etc. We're all under the same "metalhead" umbrella, but there are different factions. I'm not stereotyping, but let's face it: some (I said some--not all!) death/speed metal fans don't see the others (goth rock or whatever you want to label Manson, etc) as being metal enough, you know?
I'm not a big fan of death metal, but Slayer are legends and I would like to see them perform. Just not on tour with Manson.

Marilyn Manson has played St. Louis on every single tour of the U.S. they've ever done.* (Except OzzFest '97...but it was really just a continuation of the Dead to the World Tour anyway.)
And I've seen every single show Manson's played in St. Louis, in fact...which I plan on keeping up with.

well, basically what one would expect when you mix too many rednecks and booze. the crowd was nuts, we were semi close to the front and couldnt move, it was that tight. after manson came out and did the Thaeter/This is the new shit, he walked off stage and they announced that the crowd got too rowdy and the guardrail had to be fixed. that took almost an hour as we impatiently stood by. so he comes back and plays disposable teens, then the song ends, the flags on the stage drops and he walks off again. i knew what was coming next. the rail was busted again and in the announcers words "for the sake of mr. manson we are having to cancel the show". which was lame because the stage was at least a good 11 feet off the ground.
i tried getting out of there before the announcement was made because i knew something was wrong. at one point there was protesters throwing glass and shit, and on my other side i have the swat team/police/crowd control whatever guys with masks and shields and mace. a friend of mine bent down to help a girl up and as he turns he gets pepper sprayed in the face. for no reason. plus we didnt get our $ back. manson made a brief mention of it on his website a few years ago, i have it saved somewhere in my pc. but i doubt he'll be back after that fiasco.

I'll be happy as long as they don't play at the cow palace.
Rethinking about this, the Warfield might be possible. We're having a cursive, mastodon, against me co-headlining show, and we just had a bunch of bigger bands perform together [with many of the patrons leaving after the 3rd, and barely anyone staying for the 4th]..

plus, there are no drinks allowed in the Warfield balcony..just food and bottled water

After I heard this new single, I think this tour will be a disaster.
Yep, i dont see the Slayer fans digging this one at all.

Like I asked before - is there a source for this other than Blabbermouth? They fuck up sometimes and I haven't heard anything else about it at all.

Manson mentioned the Slayer tour in either the french press conferance or Henry rollins show, dont remember which.
But you might already know that.

He mentioned it in the French press:
Q: What can we look forward to on the forthcoming tour?
MM: Tim Skold will be playing guitar, Rob Holliday on bass. Obviously the remainder of the group but perhaps some surprises as well. This will be a more theatrical show in the manner of the tour for Mechanical Animals. In the USA I’ll probably be playing with Slayer which is rather unexpected. It will be the tour from hell where I intended to introduce the concept of the ‘black love song’.
There you are.

Fantastic! I missed the rock is dead tour but from all the bootleg's it was my favorite. So i shall def not miss it this time around, but i still think with the type of album eat me drink me is going to be, and with all the effect's i dont think slayer would be best to tour with. I hope he change's his mind later on. but then again who know's how this tour will go will go. Either way glad he;s making it more theatrical like mechanical animals tour again.

He makes it sound as though he didn't have a say in any of this. This is going to be a huge debacle, I fear. =/

Thanks.
I'm kind of worried that this won't go over well.

I love it. I was only ten during the MA era and I missed it. :(
EDIT: Blah, maybe not. According to spookhouse.net, many of the venues played at on the RID tour were seated. I don't think that will go over well with Slayer, thus keeping me from enjoying Manson's spectacle so a bunch of greasy rednecks can mosh. :( :( :(
