Welcome back to the new and improved Heirophant Council. Our upgrade to the latest version of vBulletin was successful. I'd like to send out a huge thanks to the many people who donated to make this possible.

Keep in mind that this place is going to be going through a major design facelift in the coming weeks -- meaning an entirely new theme. Until then, I tried my best to make the new interface at least somewhat presentable (and familiar).

There are several new features that you can read about in the FAQ. So tell us what you think. Comments and suggestions are welcome.

You might have noticed a slight lapse in membership. We recently finished deleting almost 5000 members with zero posts.

Meh, it looks alright. I prefer the old one though; it had a unqie style too it. This feels too bright. There's also a lack of rank system.

I really like the banner though. :D

But it looks nice so far, looks simpler and it's easier to read on my laptop. I also like that it FINALLY says how full your PM box is right there.

As I surf around on this, I'm really liking the simplicity and the larger texts here and there. It's good to see regular ranks and subtitles done away with, I never could see the benefit of those.

In addition to the new theme, we'll be improving on this one - trying to replicate the old theme as best as we can. The new theme will be designed for 1024x768 and higher resolutions. To address some of the concerns thus far: both the ranking system and the user titles will return shortly.

A registered user is someone has registered as a user. I believe everyone who's registered is a registered user. Perhaps we'll have rankings again soon.

However, to answer your question a registered user I believe is someone who's registered.

I think there are many quirks and possible kinks that need to be worked out of the system in the coming days.

The software has changed in many ways and we have several updates to make yet. I never guaranteed that this would be a seamless process. This will take a few weeks at least. Trust me, you'll be able to survive without a user title for a couple days.

to be completely honest with you, i got excited and thought that registered member meant senior member with the new upgrade when i first noticed it under my name. after posting my question though, i looked around and found it under most of the names, but some still had levels under them. it was simply a case of posting something then quickly realizing something completely different. now i feel retarded. i probably look pretty retarded right now too...

some people feel the need to project a certain kind of personae into the net for soem reason...
makes them feel like they have a prescense i guess.

I really like the layout. I like the simplicity and sleekness. I can't wait until it's Phant-o-tized in the layout to feel a little more like home.

Just a note. I dislike the white line right above our pretty signatures. So, I put a < b r > right above it and it looks much better.

is that the repuation thing? i think its supposed to show someones rep... possibly. go on the members page and highlight it. the people who have rep states that they are on a distinguished road. Thats only fillicide and tautric so far

I'm glad the majority of you like the temporary theme Filicide and I whipped up last night. We wanted to keep the colors and header rather simple until we've got our various full-blown themes completed. Bear with us everyone, and thanks for the compliments.

conceptart.org has been working with this upgrade for a hot ass minute, but it's odd using this forum style in a position of power.

Good stuff though, I can only speculate great things once this whole thing is fully fleshed out.

I think that a lot of people are asking questions which were already answered even before the upgrade began - the current layout is pretty much the default that came with the software, and Filicide and Profane will be fixing it so that it looks like home. You have to keep in mind that a lot of what we were used to seeing on the old theme were not defaults, they were specifically altered to be less generic and essentially, less lame. Like smilies, which were physically turned off. And the illegal words, and the ranking system, and many many other things. They were all added and edited manually and painstakingly by the administrators. So please, save your questions for later on, they will most likely be answered when you actually see the new theme when it is finished.

The avatars will stay the same size most likely. It's a design/aesthetic issue more so than a concern over bandwidth.

I am personally impressed at the ease and speed of the upgrade. Last time we did this, I think I was awake for a week straight merging databases and all sorts of mess.

There are a few smaller issues I've noticed no one is talking about (which is a good thing) that hopefully I'll be able to fix this weekend.

The username you choose when you sign up is supposed to be the one you're stuck with. Did you think that you would get to choose a separate screen name once you'd registered? You can mail filicide and have it changed, but usually you would be asked to make a small donation to the site through PayPal.

Sure we need money. Ultimately, you're paying for a service. If the name change isn't worth ten bucks, it probably isn't worth it to us... and for the record, multiple usernames are not permitted and will be deleted/banned if discovered.
