Marilyn Manson and a few others have just been confirmed for download festival.
Also i've had an email about the new album.
Something's happen soon....
Shame that aside from the smaller tents its such a cack infested festival, although if this is anything to go by then some other UK dates or even a Reading/Leeds billing could pop up this year....
Cheers!

Self-proclaimed ‘Antichrist Superstar’, Marilyn Manson is among the most notorious and controversial entertainers of our generation. Making a return to the festival for a 2nd time (2003 being the other), he will take to the stage on the Saturday night. Manson has revealed “I have a responsibility to make the music loud again, so that we won't hear the world coming to an end."

He has a responsibility to seek out Gerard Way at the festival, douse him in piss and laugh at his tiny face.
But where did that press come from, thats like the only statement he's made about anything since EMDM was announced...

Feh. I want tickets now but we have to wait 'till my girlfriend has a job. Any idea when Download usually sells out?

Hooray! Given the choice between Download or Reading, Download would win every time for me.

Yeah, actually I didn't notice that. Odd how some other bands have their regular logos though. Whoever made that ad must have gotten lazy.

I think that's because they're the main stage headliners

I doubt Manson would want to play it if he got put on any stage other the main one (and I can't think of any reason why they would play any stage other than the main one).
edit: Then again, someone made the rather idiotic decision of putting The Prodigy in a tent last year and they gathered a crowd much larger than would take the place.

I would have thought Manson wouldn't play below the likes of Linkin Park and MCR. Damn

And Download made the announcement that will ensure me returning, I'm still not fussed about any of the other bands though. I've seen Slayer and KSE so many times it's hard to get excited, but FUCK YES for Manson!
He is apparently playing Saturday so it seems likely it'll be right before Linkin Park's headlining slot.

I don't think he's ever been a main headliner at a festival (in this country at least) so unfortunately he's always going to be "under" someone, even if it's a shitty band like MCR (I quite like Linkin Park :-P).

I know yeah, that is pretty mental. One would think that he'd play before Maiden, as he did in 2003 and at Leeds 2005...tad strange I feel. I wouldn't be suprised if that would change. Luckily the weekend ticket ensures me seeing Manson wherever in Donnington it may be :P

Linkin Park sells more tickets than Manson, that's just it.
Besides, I don't think Manson cares, as long as he didn't have to play before a group of jackassy kids in band uniforms.
Plus, I think it's a smart move, him playing before LP. Lots of people want to see LP, probably moreso than Iron Maiden-then again, I'm a Yank, so their standings are probably different across the pond-and in order to do so they're probably going to watch Manson first, so they'll get a dose of what he's about.

I'm kind of excited and kind of not...I don't want to pay for Download tickets when the lineup is so shitty, I don't want to travel to the other end of the country when Reading is on my doorstep, and I would rather see a longer, proper tour set.
On the other hand, Manson is BACK and festival gigs are always crazy because half the people are throwing bottles and the other half are moshing.
Plus I got fishnet sunburn last time I saw him at Donington, I'm not doing that again!
So, dunno if I'll go. I am hurting for cash big time right now.

If the Download forums are anything to go by, no one particularly wants MCR or Linkin Park to headline. It's probably not accurately representative of the population who'll attend, just the metal heads who signed up to hate on MCR and LP when they were announced

Hell Yea! and i want the Manson experience in a more intimate venue.
at Reading 2005 he was good but didnt put in the effort i expected. Either hes jus gettin old or he didnt want to exert himself for all the Maiden fans just there to wait for their band.

says on the download page that manson will play sat night,
"I have a responsibility to make the music loud again, so that we won't hear the world coming to an end. I feel that the music we've made on this album and the transformation that has taken place this year has created something unstoppable. CELEBRITARIAN."
and it says that^^

Damn! I wish I was going to download, but it's in the middle of my AS level exams and no one else I know is going. Curses.
I have a ticket to Reading though, which should be fun, even though the music's not to my taste.
Discuss in the Download Festival 2007 thread :)

:( I've not yet had the pleasure of seeing him live and I'm starting to doubt I ever will; there's no way I can afford a full weekend DL ticket. I'm hoping some day tickets will become available...

I know its so much money, but I guess you are getting your money's worth. Im going mainly to see manson, if Manson wasn't their I wouldn't be going. I have never seen him live, so this time I am.
