Everyone I talk to these days seems to have Bi-Polar Disorder. Especially girls. And they're all on medication. And they cry a lot.

Big fucking deal.

Why are you bothering me with this shit? Don't you have a psychologist to bother with your problems? I have my own theory. I don't think ANY of you have Bi-Polar disorder. I think you all have ASD (Attention-Seeking Disorder).

Leave me the fuck alone about your stupid mental illnesses. You're a human being, not a fucking collection of symptoms. Fuck.

No way, man. No way. Everyone, and I mean everyone who claims to have a mental disorder of some sort (no matter how trendy) does in fact have that disorder. No matter how much they discuss it to get attention because they have no redeeming qualities, they have that disorder. They take expensive pills that they're parents bought for them, right? That's proof enough for me.

What's worse is people who think that being diagnosed with ADHD gives them a license to be obnoxious with no repercussions whatsoever.

People who frequently pretend to be depressed are irritating as well. I avoid them.

You're right. I don't know what I was thinking. It must have been my advanced schizoid paranoia that caused me to say such things. I haven't taken my pills lately. Please forgive me.

Attention seeking is one thing. but could you do really insane people a favor and stop insulting us all with a blanket statement. some people do have real disorders. and NO people with disorders do not have Psychologists to talk to. They have Psychiatrists who prescribe pills during 5 minute meetings. You're hardly describing an adult population with a serious mental illness. And some of us are walking the streets, being productive, and manage somehow to cope with themselves. Attention seeking is usually like whining or complaining about things that we havn't got Ph Ds to discuss.

PhD? Phoney Degree?

Look, if you have a legitimate psychological disorder, fine. This isn't a rant against people who have mental illnesses. This is a rant against people who fake them for attention (Read: most people who claim to have them).

You should hate these trend-seekers more than I do. They're giving people with legitimate mental problems a bad name by going around flaunting their bullshit mental illnesses because they think it makes the intriguing, like Gesh, for example.

Lots of people are ASD, so chances are some of the people that are Bi-polar are gonna be ASD.

That doesn't mean everyone of them seeks attention.

I don't think it makes me intriguing. I just happen to be an actual advocate for the mentally disabled who aren't able to have a vioce. I've been doing this since I was a kid for my mother. And now I use the internet to help poeple. So far I have helped quite a few find the resources they need. You should thank me kind of. I get them to shut the fuck up about it and do something. Though I still, upon occasion, tell them to pull the trigger. It gets on my nerves as well. I don't hide my mental illness, nor do I glorify it. I simply accept it and control it as much as possible.

Isn't celebritarianism a form of ASD. And I respect what you said Terroja, but I do hope you realize there are actually defected biological causes for many disorders. they are real. They are not fake. they are not faked by some people. The brain is a very delicate and complicated component. Maybe the hardest one to understand that we know of. It does have defects. Some cause more noticeable complications than others. Some people are totally insane and may never know it. Bipolar is not typically something that someone with it would notice, it's generally always noticed first by someone else. Someone you either hurt/hit/or just plain scare (with your paranoia) during Manic episodes. And then there's the instantaneously provoked deep depressions and threats of suicide. Again these are not for attention much of the time, it's a legitimate error in thinking.

I too was diagnosed, misdiagnosed several times actually, with a disorder, learned to understand it, now I control it by understanding how it works.
NOT being a VICTIM of it, just understanding that is is a part of how I view the world and NOTHING MORE.
What bothers me are those who use illness as a crutch, as something that entitles them to some kind-of buffer-zone.
We all have pain, we all have short-comings of some kind, just like we all have talents and things we excel at.
Some of mine are different than yours, s-not good, s-not bad... s-just the way it panned-out and I have to learn to make the best of it... not whining is the first step in that damn direction.
Sure, you are gonna' have bad days, let them happen, as long as it's A' day, and nothing more... then get on with being the best You you can be.

I don't doubt that for a second. : D

I don't know, I really have to side with TERROJA on this one. It seems like a LOT of people have been "diagnosed" as Bi-Polar disorder and more commonly depression. Most just take some retarded online quiz and diagnose themselves.

It's irritating because it's a real insult to those who actually DO deal with that disease. Most of them don't go around broadcasting it.

However, attention-seeking is sometimes a very big part of Bi-Polar disorder. Not in all cases, but in some the person afflicted with the disorder is extremely proud of the fact that they have a disease. Sometimes that can be mistaken for the person somehow exagerrating their condition, but for some people that's a very real part of their disease.

Still, you just want to drop kick all these whiney bastards that are talking about their BPD every five minutes.

Hey, I just noticed your sig is from Ace Ventura. That movie is so fucking funny, specially the scene that you took your sig from.

So.....Bi-Polar Disorder....umm... I have to agree with you Terowja. I know this girl that supposedly has some weird disorder that makes her life " miserable" and whenever she starts telling people about how depressing her life is, I can't help but to think to myself " You attention-seeking little bitch". I've been told by one of her closest friends that everything she says is real, but I guess the people who fake it have stigmatized her credibility.

What I hate even more is that some of them use it as grounds to get money.

Let me explain: the Navy (and I suppose all branches of the military) has something called "involuntary separation pay," which pretty much means you still get paid if you get fired under certain circumstances, like if you have a serious back problem or failed to go to rehab or fucked, like, six guys on your ship. (It's a lot more technical, but I don't have all the documents to go on; I just gave a few examples.) Most of the time, you get half pay, and that's pretty much to get you by until you find a job. However, under some circumstances (like if you got your arms docked off and can't work any more), you can have your CO submit a letter of recommendation for full pay. A lot of people are just whiners, like one guy who, SURPRISE!, thinks he should get full compensation because he was recently diagnosed as being bipolar...after fourteen years of service. I don't think being bipolar prevents you from getting a job, asshole, and you're lucky to be getting half pay. He had six of his higher-ups sign a piece of paper saying that he was a swell guy and hard worker, but what that told me is that he can still work.

Goddamn, buncha pussies in the military, I tell ya.

bi-polar disorder IS quite real. My closest friend is indeed diagnosed bi-polar and she is certainly not just complaining. Though I'm sure that there are many people who claim to have certain mental disorders just for attention. I know some bitch who said she was pregnant (twice in 3 months) just to get attention. But I do know people who have killed themselves because of the severity of their disorders. bi-polar disorder is real and, honestly, isn't something to make fun of.

It's right up there with the girls with OCD. And ADHD. And insomnia. They also usually have asthma, allergies and bad backs, knees, knecks.

And they all seem to conveniently act up in crowds or with their boyfriends. But are fine when they're drunk or high.

I think they all have GWC. Gaping Wet Cunts.

Again, in case people read this (which they probably won't simply because I am not calling anyone a name. And I am not being silly. Or even controversial.) But if you do read then hopefully you will learn one thing:
moody does NOT equal Bi Polar. Moodiness is but one major symptom of the disease. And by moody I don't mean sad/happy. I mean manic as in being over sexual, doing dangerous acts such/ making decisions without realizing the consequences/staying up for days on end without a drug and having thoughts of grandiose nature. And the lows usually consists of being in bed for days/sleeping 18 hours/flu like symptoms/cognitive problems etc. Any of this mood issues that actually interfere with your daily life and not just a blue Monday are signs of bi polar. Getting these moods swings without a trigger/ elevated swings due to menstrual cycle etc. Being moody doesn't make you bi polar. Being moody makes you normal. Wanting to crash your car into the truck in front of you and 30 seconds later planning your dinner is a problem. That's bi polar.

An ADHD diagnosis can come with the wonderful benefit of Adderall, or, if you're really lucky, Desoxyn.

The obnoxiousness is just a side effect of snorting too much Desoxyn.

No more than Bi-Polar was... just like gesh stated above, there are actual, specific, symptoms that are real and extreme to both ADHD and Bi-polar disorder.
The problem is that most who use the term are just using them as an excuse to either get their kid out of their hair or get attention for themselves/be lazy.
