According to page 40 of the latest issue of Rolling Stone, the magazines boss Jann S. Wenner offered Manson a writing gig. It notes that the offer is still on the table. I'd scan it in if I had a scanner.

I have no idea about any specefics. All I know is that there is a standing offer for him to write for the magazine. I would assume that means they want him to contribute on something like a regular basis.

if he does do it, i hope it is him writing and not someone else. Sometimes people get paid because a magazine uses there name/pic above an article and some other guy has wrote it

I don't think Manson would stoop to that level. He has written other articles which sounded like what he would say and his opinions in some other smaller magazines, so I see this being no differant to any other article he would write... At least we get to read somthing again for a change :)

I concur.

He could also use the magazine as a plug for the Celebritarian Corporation, if he so wished.

I can just imagine him referencing the CC, regardless of what the subject matter is... "It's comparable to what we're doing with blah blah blah."

Instant plug, interest piqued.

On the other hand, maybe the Stones wants him to write about current art, indie art, etc, in which he could also easily integrate the Celebritarian movement, and, if this were the case, may be the reason he's offered the gig.

It's all speculative, of course.
Who knows?

That would be awesome. I doubt he does it though....

It would be very fitting, especially given how his career began. I also think it would be brilliant, he's a funny and clever guy. I really hope it happens.

From time to time, Rolling Stone has some exceptionally well-written and researched articles, and I could see Manson doing something sporadically and it turning out really well for both parties. I couldn't see him reviewing two-bit, up and coming acts and singing praise or dismissal, but I could see him providing savagely witty commentary on current issues/politics or art.

He's a phenomenal writer, and when music no longer interests him, I could see him becoming huge in the literary world. If he chooses to do so.

I doubt he'd do it. He "doesn't need to choose a side."

yeah i saw that in rolling stone when i was paging thru it...that would be awesome if he wrote for them, although the magazine does suck and they cover some shitty fucking bands, and their critics always dis the best music (old fucking codgers from the 70's no doubt). Manson would offer the magazine a fresh voice which it badly needs

Yeah, I saw that and liked the pics. One was with he and "the bride" and the other was with Lisa Marie Pressley. I think he looks better with the latter, to be honest with you - she's more of a badass and could see them together more than Manson's "other half" which he seems "chained" to.

Whatever.

I didn't read all of the posts in this thread, but if no one else said it, Jann Wenner is an asshole. Read about how he cut Hunter Thompson off and put him down in the books as unemployed, taking away his insurance and budget, and periodically ripping him off in Fear and Loathing In America.

I'd like to read his blurbs though.

Wasn't the only reason he became a rock journalist in the first place to promote his own band?

I think i'll answer this one
only because.............................
he came to me in 1989 and asked to write entertainment stories for our college newspaper. I was the entertainment editor at the stime. I made mr manson a staff writer later to promote him to my assistant...he took journalism and theater classes
he had something to say and the paper allowed him to say what he wanted. he recently said infront of a room full of fans that I gave him his 1st writing job and that I was responsible for him writing....thats a HUGE compliment and I couldnt believe he felt that way about me or what I had done for him
he is a kind soul...and a good person
