I like Jurassic 5. Due to the Dangerdoom CD, I want to hear more MF Doom and Talib Kwali (sp? Heh).

Slightly interested in Ghostface as well - though I find it really odd he how he goes from 'WU Tang Clan Ain't Nothin' to Fuck With!' to 'Tony Starks pedigree'. Heh.

Being where I am, it's all around me (hip hop that is.) I've very groove oriented, which is why I can actually stand some of 50 and Jigga's shit.

Favorites are: Ludacris, Crime Mobb, Rza and most of the Wu Tang, Trina, Missy, even some Kim.

There is very few rap that I would actually ever purchase, but hurrah for p2p!

Jurassic 5's okay, but I like Jay-Z, Biggie Smalls, Missy Elliott, Kanye West, and Outkast. I think you have to be a person who is very groove-oriented when it comes to music to really be into hip hop, or at least appreciate the culture for what it is and not just dismiss it because you're an angsty metalhead who can't decipher the slang and metaphors.

ADingoAteMyBaby
10-24-2005, 03:25 PM
I'm a big fan of Kanye West's music (even if he is a douchebag). I also like Missy Elliot (a VERY innovative musician), Jay-Z (fantastic beat) and the Common.

Jurrasic 5 is pretty good. Mos Def is probably one of the more positive hip-hop artists out there as well. The Roots are an amazing example of "conscious hip-hop".

Murs is great for people who are fans of Talib Kweli. Murs 3:16 is the Murs most recent cd, and it is amazing.

I really like a lot of Hip-Hop.

All the rap/hip hop haters need to gtfo. -->
This isn't the thread for you so keep your bitchy comments to yourself. Thanks.

If 50 Cent comes to mind when you think of hip hop, you have no idea what you're talking about.

But anyway...I like some hip hop and rap. Like Tribe, Aesop Rock, Blackalicious, Madvillain, Public Enemy and so forth. Most of the mainsteam stuff is pretty shitty in my opinion.

Mos Def isn't bad.

Oh and I'd also like to say that there's nothing wrong with being a Manson fan and liking hip hop. It's called being open-minded.

hip hop can be good in small doses, but when it becomes the fabric of american culture, it just creates a cespool of little poser white hoes trying to look like sluts, and wanna be thugs picking fights wherever they can. i think the mentality is completly stupid and its moronic to call these fucking retards artists. dont care if you listen to this shit. but i disrespect people who idolize them

P.S. one of my school deans dated tupac :)

I enjoy listening to hip hop but when a particular song that i like gets played 9 million times on the radio every hour, then i start to get tired of it. Some hip-hoppers i enjoy are:

Jay-z
Nas
Missy Elliott
Timbaland(his beats)
Ebony eyes
Trina
Common
Mos Def
Q-TIP
Talib Kwali
Biggie
Tupac

I now have MF Dooms "Mm.. food", "Mm.. leftovers" and "Operation Doomsday" and Murs "Murs 3:16 - The 9th Edition".

Murs can flow, but I am actually not impressed by the fact that occasionally he succumbs to the steretypical 'bitches' and 'freakin' subjects that take up mainstream hip-hop.

MF Doom, however, is a badass. His production skills are hilarous and I love the goddamn skits. I need to get King Gheodrah "Take Me To Your Leader".

Blackalicious are incredible. Gift of Gab is one of the best rappers ever. Also, tribe called quest, the roots, the spooks, the fugees, Jin, Infamous mobb, Some of Wu Tang Clan, KRS1, Aceyalone, P.E.A.C.E., Pharoah Monch, Mos Deff, Talib Kweli (well the Blac Starr stuff anyway) are all wicked. And Eminem's the Marshall Mathers LP is awesome.

Viktor Vaugh - Venomous Villian 2
MF Doom - Mm... food
Blackaliscous - Blazing Arrow
Think Differently - WuTang Meets Indie Culture
MC Chris - Eating's Not Cheating
Deltron 3030

Murs really lost me with the content matter. I really don't care about bitches and ho's and shit like that. I vastly prefer songs about robots and just all-around great written tunes (like 'Green Light' from Blazing Arrow, just awesome).
