which version of this song do you think is better, the CD version, the new line version (shortend one) or the 'promotional' version, with the alternate/live ending.
Personally, i found the CD version to be best, until i downloaded the promotional version, and i must say that it sounds better this way... (although, i think my favourite ever is the live version from TLTOE)
It says "You might as well kill yourself you're already dead"

I liked the live version on "Remix and Repent".

The original promo version is the only way to hear it. Of course, when I say that, I'm talking studio-wise. I never listen to the album version after I got the promo version. I know it's just a few different words at the end, but still. It's uncensored and sounds cooler. But either studio version is better than the shortened live version.
Overall though, my favorite would be the live recording on Remix & Repent.

Remix & Repent is the most kickass.

I actually prefer the LTOE version. It's got a much more "machine" vibe, and the guitarist doesn't suck.

I think it sounds best as it was performed on the Dead To The World tour. Sometimes, Zim's rawness really made some songs sound exceptionally better, case in point this song.

Just listen to it in surround or a car with sub-woofers.. you are guaranteed to cream your pants.

I like the ending of "you might as well kill yourself, you're already dead". Any version of that is fine with me.

I like it better live, but pre-GGG! Meaning, the live version with the alternate ending that ISN'T shortened.

Remix and Repent, hands down.
The build up in the very beginning gives me a rush everytime. And the 'prick your finger it is done...' part always gives me goosebumps. IMO one of Manson's best performances.

This is a quote that I really like:
'We perform the song 'Antichrist Superstar' on a poduim, with banners, and it's a kind of sarcastic Nuremberg / TV evangelist thing. We're trying to say, it's all stupidity. In the way people react, there's not much difference between the Marilyn MAnson audience, a Nazi rally and a revivalist Christian meeting. And still we get called the evil ones. I find people's definition of evil is that which they find distasteful. They're too chicken to stand up and say, 'I, personally, find this distasteful', so they justify it with this weird morality' (June 1997 - FROM THE BOOK 'MARILYN MANSON TALKING <---GREAT BOOK, GET IT NOW.)
Personally, I think any live performance beats the studio version as it's a song where you need the atmosphere from the people around you at the buildup before the first climax. Then suddenly BAM, everyone's hands are up and shouting. Lovely, lovely lovely.

You can't really beat the raw emotion in the Remix and Repent version. That's easily my favourite one.
