They were friends, and I guess Trent felt like he betrayed that trust. They stopped talking after ACSS and then met up again during The Fragile tour. But I think they were just two different people. Manson embraced the whole rock-star thing, and I think Trent kinda hated that. Manson had also made comments about him being responsible for nothing records major income (laughs). He gets off on ranting about people who are more famous than him, and at the same time admiring everything about people who were here before him. Take Bruce Springsteen, for example. Trent has got the utmost respect for the guy, but if Mr Springsteen over there was born 30 years later and had the exact same career tragectory, Trent would start moaning about him so fucking fast. He seems to forget that Mr Springsteen was a fucking little cunt who left Patti Smith for dirt, just because the opportunity to work with Billy Joel came along. The similarities between Mr Springsteen and Mr Manson's (business-end-of-things) career is quite striking, actually. The whole moving from one record label to another. Mr Reznor praises Mr Springsteen for the exact same things that he's insulting Mr Manson for doing. Hypocrite. And, of course, Trent likes to fill his house with Platinum discs while pretending to be an underground artisté. There is very little difference between the careers of Mr Manson and Mr Reznor. The only difference is that Manson is honest about his successes, something that Mr Reznor seems to take offense to. Pretty ironic that he called Mr Manson a "shallow little bitch".
