EYG, these are all beautiful, but I think this one is my favourite. It's so simple, and the lighting is gorgeous.

I love Eat and Streetlight. I can hear the lights buzzing.

Sunset and an Oak Tree really looks like it could've been taken in the safari of Africa. I love the clouds above the tree, clear, vivid and so contrasted with the bottom shadows and sunlight. It's gorgeous.

Spring is perfect. The background is just grey enough that it looks like rain and makes you think of the dirt being moist.

Hight Tide at the Seawall has an awesome wave. It looks frozen and smooth.

Palm Globes is my least favorite; the bottom is a bit blurry. But it's a really interesting shot.

I can smell the deer like I can hear those lights buzzing. The weeds and stains on its bones makes death look awful.

Rod Iron (sorry I mixed those words in the title) is my favorite, however.

This one is my Favorite. It's something about crashing waves that just attracts me to a photo.

Holy shite. You got fabulous pictures here. You captired the water splashing quite nicely. That one of the single street light is the coolest. Where did you take these?

That tree and I have quite a history together. It, along with most of the oak trees on the island, were killed by the storm surge of Hurricane Hugo, the same hurricane that stripped away the beach to such an extent that the seawall in the photographs had to be built. That very tree is the first thing I have a conscious memory of photographing, with my dad's camera when I was about 8 years old.

Thanks for your comments, Emily. I'm honored.

Thanks very much. Many of these pictures were taken at Hobcaw Barony, a nature preserve near where I grew up in South Carolina. Rod Iron, Streetlight and Eat were taken in St. Louis, at the Kingshighway railroad overpass.

Thanks for the comments everyone.

After learning the tree's history I appreciate that photograph so much more and it becomes just that much more beautiful. What an amazing tree.

This picture is most definitely my favorite now. I'm still amazed at how absolutely vivid the sky is. The clouds are virtually moving and I'm squinting into the sunlight.

All of these pictures are so alive with the senses.
Thank you very much.

BAN!

Really awesome pics Mark, love silhouttes so much, this one is no exception! <3

The first one with the EAT sign, love the red hues in it. I love how you captured the motion of the waves in that one with the waves :P And the broken bar on the fence doesn't look ordinary, which is why I like your photos so very much. You're capable of turning things that are plain and ordinary into something meaningful. Although, that may or may have not been your intentions, I just got a feeling from that one.

Awesome work you never fail to disappoint me.

Now please zip up and let me gon bout mah way. ;_;

Those are cool. Palm Globe seems out of focus, though. Perceptivity is more important than technical details, anyway.

Thanks. Those pictures are of Monk's Mound, the largest mound in a Native American archaeological site called Cahokia located in western Illinois.

This past weekend I was hiking through Hobcaw Barony and I decided to try to find the deer skeleton in the above pictures again. After about an hour of searching, I found it in relatively good condition.
