Ok, so ill get flamed for this, but I don't think sharing Official tracks should be alowed on the forum. When Manson releases shit theres always a sticky thingee saying you arn't allowed to link to leaked tracks, like for Personal Jesus, etc. So why should eople be able to share NIN tracks, I don't think it should be encouraged, whether its Britney Spears, 50 Cents or Manson.

People are sharing otherwise unavailable Nine Inch Nails tracks.

I agree. A song that's been played on the radio or small clips of songs is one thing. People shouldn't be able to post links to entire copyrighted works.

Anticipated response: "Then y did u post?! Haha! It seems lyk u care enuf 2 post!"
My Reply: No - really, I don't care. I think that all you people that get all flipped out over downloading music are self-righteous pussies.

Hum I agree in many respects.
I have a problem with the thread in General Music Downloads where someone is asking for a full download of John 5's solo album. Now no one has put their own links to downloads, but there is a post with a link to another site which has the full album for download on it.
I think MMUSA has made the right decision concerning Mansons work, I just hope the same is being done for other artists.
Sorry if I sound out of line - I'm not trying to have a go at MMUSA, just saying is all.

I agree in a way. I mean it should be more about sharing rare stuff and live stuff ya know, but I was just thinking this a little while ago.
We get told not to post the new nobodies or personal jesus, but now we have a forum dedicated to NIN and now they are letting one of the most anticipated albums be posted so people can download it, that's not very good.
Come on!!! As much as Trent is a dick we all love NIN in a way >_>

Seeing how this is a Marilyn Manson board, any official music of his being posted for downloading, is prohibited. I don't see the problem in everyone else's work being posted though. It's just music, fuck the artist's wallets. I'm sure they have enough cash this month to pay their rent.

I admit, I download music illegally and ALOT of music. I like to hear entire albums before I buy them to get a feel for what I'm getting. Unlike most downloaders, I buy most of the albums I download. The only reason I download stuff is to get a feel for new bands, a 'trial' basically.
I have no problem with posting leaked NIN material. We're all going to buy the album, it's not doing much harm.
I think downloading is a good thing, if it weren't for downloading I wouldn't have found several of my favorite bands and wouldn't have put tons of money into buying their stuff. So in a way, downloading works.

Its illegal, exactly my point, so why should this board encourage it. Sharing singles, music videos, live boots, live videos I have no problem with, but sharing whole albums or album tracks isn't.
It makes me sick when I see people with 100 cd holding cases which is full of copied cds, that is stealing. How would you like it if you worked for a year+ on an album and it got leaked and spread by message boards like the new NIN stuff is. Can't people damn well wait like I am. At least I will get more enjoyment about going into the music store on May 2 and buying it and hearing it all for the first time.
I agree that its unfair for people to be sharing John 5's whole album, mabee a few tracks so you can see what its like, but a whole album, it isn't fair.

As I recall, we've never encouraged the sharing of copyrighted material in general. It is most certainly illegal. So... If you suspect that copyrighted material is being offered for free, simply do not download it. Moral dilemma solved.
We're more likely to be stringent with Marilyn Manson downloads because it's product of the artist that this site is promoting. Is this fair? No. Many things aren't.

If I were to record material and it got leaked I wouldn't care, because it's inentions is to be heard. To me music should be about music and not the price tag.

If you had a secret birthday present for your mother and that got discovered before it was meant to, you would feel quite annoyed. it would totally ruin it. Trent was very angry that tracks leaked. You are not a professional musician King and if you were and you speant years writing and recording an album and it got leaked and even in bad quality I am sure you wouldn't be thrilled.
Instead of only supporting Manson the board should be supporting Roc/Metal/etc. in General, by that I don't mean by basing it round other bands, but not letting people spread leaked tracks.

Thanks for informing me that I am not a professional musician, I really had no clue!
And if my mom found a present I got her, I'd just say "hey there ya go, happy ___day!" She's be like aww thanks, hugs, and on her way. Who doesn't like early gifts!?
I stand by my word that music should be about music and not the price tag.

Nothings going to get done obviously so I give up. Next time Manson releases a new album I will make sure to find a leaked copy and spread it far and wide.

Feel free to leak any Manson albums you wish. Just not here. Unless you'd like to be banned.

Agreed. I've also voiced concern, for selfish reasons. I'd hate for this place to be shut down due to the fact that someone can't operate a torrent/P2P program.

I am just curious. When the new Manson album will leak, will we be able to discuss and share links to the leaked material on this board? I don't see how that could harm since we'll all, without doubt, buy the album on the release date.

to be brutally honest, i download alot of shit illegally too..
or leech off other ppl anyways ;P
but yeah ,im in one of those kinda dont have much of an opinion or care about it types..
i will download live stuffs & rare/hard to find stuffs, that cost a small fortune, or tracks that are just mediocre & just to add to the collection for something to listen too, & then i will go & buy the ones i like..
or i will buy the ones that kinda deserve the money imo.
if i download something & then end up thinking its only kinda mediocre/ok/undeserving/shit ten ofcourse, hell no i wont buy it..
so yeah, trial & error.
if i like/enjoy the artist &/or the album, ofcourse i will buy it.
i dunno, some of you will probably think thats a kinda retarded way to do it..
