I've seen a lot of threads asking for information about 'The Nobodies: 2005 Against All Gods' CD. I have a copy in-hand and, like my 'Lest We Forget' Discussion Thread (http://www.mansonusa.com/council/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10495), will cover everything I can possibly think of in this posting.
Packaging
The disc is packaged in a clear jewel case with the MM 'Against All Gods' "palm on cheek" photograph and the words 'The Nobodies', 'Marilyn Manson', and 'Against All Gods Mix'. The insert is a single sheet with one fold. Inside are white printed copyright and credit information for all of the included tracks. On the back of the insert, facing the disc, is an all black background with the words 'Marilyn Manson' in the 'AAG' font.
The CD and the artwork behind the CD is lifted from a zoomed scan of the 'Crop Failure' watercolor. The back of the disc lists the contents (2 videos and 10 tracks) with a reprint of the entire 'Crop Failure' work.
Interscope and Universal are the represented label and distributor. As with 'Lest We Forget', there is no mention of "Nothing Records" as "Nothing Records" ceases to exist.

Music Videos
There are two videos; (1) Personal Jesus (unedited), (2) The Nobodies: 2005 Against All Gods Mix. Both videos are MPEG encoded and VCD formatted. The files load through an autorun config utility based on Macromedia VCD Projector and Windows Media Player Classic (both of which are included as self-packaged files on the disc itself). The autorun routine uses two ini files found standard in the Macromedia VCD Projector kit. There are a total of 3 instruction files on the disc.
Personal Jesus - MV01.mpg 33.2MB
The Nobodies: 2005 Against All Gods Mix - MV02.mpg 35.8MB
Clarifying 'The Nobodies: 2005 Against All Gods Mix'
The song is a "MIX" by Chris Vrenna, not an actual "REMIX". The video is of the 2005 AAG (Chris Vrenna) mix. All of the other tracks on the album are remixes (this will be different for the 4-track USA release as there will be the 'LWF' album version of 'The Nobodies' included as the 4th track). Despite the confusing names (i.e. "Burn 69 Mix") the liner notes clarify by stating that these tracks are remixes and not just mixes (exception being the first track '2005 Against All Gods by Chris Vrenna').
On the MarilynManson.com official website (link) (http://www.marilynmanson.com/news.php?newsid=96) they describe the Chris Vrenna track as being a "Remix". This is incorrect. The track is a very subtle mix and the liner notes also clarify the "mix"/"remix" issue.
Video Menu & Disc Contents
The video files are found in the "media" directory. There is also a "pictures" directory but it is empty. Other contents include a "util" directory housing the Windows Media Player Classic program, "xtras" containing A/V drivers and component plugins, and a "CDPLUS" directory containing the encoded VCD splash page files.
Screenshot of the video splash screen below:

About the Music Videos
'Personal Jesus' is the original video cut with no changes. No contents have been filtered and the mild/topless nudity is intact. 'The Nobodies: 2005 Against All Gods Mix' video contains a number of continuity changes and scene alterations. For one, there are no longer any other band members featured in the video. This is not a spiteful or mean edit intent on offending the former band members, this is an important change to tell the true story of 'The Nobodies'. The video has been reorganized to be much more of a story-telling piece about two children and a house of horrors they are locked within.
The story told within the video takes pages from a number of important literary works, the dominant theme being evil begets evil. The storyline is very much a classic tale, with shades of Shakespeare's Titus Andronicus, a story of evil and abuse getting exactly what is deserved in the end.

I got two questions.
1. Is the Nobodies 2005 Against All Gods Mix definately the one that we hear on the "new" video?
2. Is the Tourniquet Prosthetic Dance Mix the full seven minute version or the edited Remix & Repent version?
Thanks!

It really doesn't matter, but the 10 track one is actually Korean. : ) So far that's all I've seen. Unless you count the promos. Last time I looked I saw a new promo on Ebay. But [psycho]logical reported that awhile back in the Nobodies remake thread in the news section.

Well, I think the changes to the video are excellent and in that respect, the Vrenna mix better applies to the video. I think 'The Nobodies: 2005 AAG' release was an opportunity for Manson to (a) cut another single from the 'LWF' album, (b) promote the tour, (c) re-introduce an important and meaningful song by improving the translation.
Needless? I don't think so. Overall I'm really happy with this release.

Hang on, 1 second im hearing that the new video was of the track just called The Nobodies and that the Chris Vrenna Remix was actually a remix, NOW im hearing that the Chris vrenna mix isd the pos from the new video. I am pretty sure that the Chris Vrenna mix is NOT the song on that music video that was streaming and that its an actual remix???
Someone who owns the single, please explain
Eg:
Is the track called "The Nobodies" on the tracklist, the same shitty track thats had the nanananananana changed to speaking OR is it the Holywood version AND THE Chris Vrenna Against All Gods mix, is actually a remix.

The Chris Vrenna 2005 Against All Gods Mix is the one that's in the new video. It's the one without the na na na na na part and has the spoken part.
I prefer it over the original Holy Wood version personally.

It is a mix (not a remix) and is intended to better tell the story within the music video. 'The Nobodies 2005 AAG' music video is the Chris Vrenna mix. There is no such thing as a 'The Nobodies' Chris Vrenna remix, just the mix found on the single and in the video. That's it. That is all there is to it.

I'm no fan of remixes in the first place, but I have no idea what you find so great about that one. Even if it was any cop there's no real reason why it couldn't have served as a B-side on the single of a song on Lest We Forget that hadn't already been released.

I'm not understanding why people are complaining about this release (Korean version). You get two videos (VCD format), one of which is the much improved 'The Nobodies: 2005 AAG' video. You get 2 great remixes of 'The Nobodies' and then some remixes that were previously only released on the Japanese Limited Digipack. The NA release will have much less contents but the price will be halved bringing it down to a standard single.
What's the complaint?

Are you talking about the two tracks that are advertised as "from 'Lest We Forget' Japanese bonus CD?" I don't know why they said that. Sure they're from that LWF bonus disc, but they're available on other releases too. With The Not So Beautiful People, that was on one of the UK BP singles and the Japanese BP single too. The Fight Song Slipknot Remix has been on alot of different releases. Too many to bother listing.
I don't really think they're complaining about the Korean disc itself. I think they're just not too big on the Vrenna mix and the two new remixes themselves. I like all three. My least favorite being the Stephanie K remix. My only complaint is I wish they would have included the Wormwood Remix.

of course im pleased most of the time. but i know when to make an indepent decisions free of fan boi influences. and ive decided that the nobodies re-release is a waste of time.Your contribution to this thread is about as pointless as it gets. You quote a comment of mine that has absolutely no opinion about the release one way or the other- then say "spoken like a true fan boi". Then you try to say that my liking of the Korean release is "fan boi" influenced. Do I really need to point out to you that we are talking about a MM release on a MM fan site?
I am left to assume then that you are disappointed in the release and this is all misdirected frustration. I respect your opinion.
Update: Your comment below doesn't change my point, it only underlines your ignorance.

No they're not "VCD encoded", they're just normal mpegs (although theoretically the video files on a VCD are mpegs, they just have different filenames). If the disc was structured like a VCD then it should work on a standalone DVD player then it should work on it because they're usually VCD-compatible (I've never encountered one that isn't anyway).
I assume you got the VCD thing from there being a Macromedia VCD "player" on there, but it's an exe file so it's only going to run through Windows, not a standalone VCD player.

No they're not "VCD encoded", they're just normal mpegs...I thought about posting a long reply to Leviticus and going overboard with details to try and help them, but having just spent too much time already responding to 'jaekwon', I kept my answer short and sweet.
VCDs are MPEG-1 videos. The disc contains MPEG-1 videos. I even said that in my original post:Both videos are MPEG encoded and VCD formatted. The files load through an autorun config utility based on Macromedia VCD Projector and Windows Media Player Classic (both of which are included as self-packaged files on the disc itself). The autorun routine uses two ini files found standard in the Macromedia VCD Projector kit.In my experience, telling someone VCDs will play in their DVD player is usually a big mistake. I learned that when I was posting hidden info details about the 'NIN - And All That Could Have Been' DVD. I found that most people on the forum (not this one) were actually playing this DVD on their PlayStation 2 system (something I wasn't expecting), and they could not follow the menu directions I was providing. Similar thing happened back on my 'Lest We Forget' post.
The PS2 cannot play VCDs.
In addition, about 10% of the DVD players sold today still do not play VCDs. Check out VCD Help (http://www.vcdhelp.com) and use the compatibility search to confirm that. Also, I knew that this particular disc would never play on a DVD player. So- to keep it short and sweet, I just said it wouldn't work but I admit I did generalize a bit too much and definitely did steer wrong when I said "unless you have a VCD player...", right thought but doesn't apply.
Thanks for the correction [psycho]logical, I didn't mean to put out a bit of [unintentionally] bad info, I was just being brief and in that case, shouldn't have replied at all.
Original suggestion still stands:You will need to put the disc in your computer CD-ROM, then use explorer to browse the contents of the disc. There is an executable, launch it to view the videos.-Or just wait for someone to post the files again.

this is my first post on this forum... but i thought id say this :) no, you cant play vcds on playstation 2 (or 1 for that matter) and your right about the 10% of dvds unable to play vcds lol, coz my dvd player is one of the 10% :(
and you wouldnt be able to play this, or the majority of other singles released with a "vcd" or "music video" on even the best dvd players. i dont have the single and proberbly never will coz ive cheaked all my local australian music stores and they have no record of the single coming out. but im guessing that the single is a "music cd with extra files" meaning, the videos are just extra files in the cd directorys and arnt envoded into anything a dvd player would recognise (i think it needs vob structures or somthing like that) but yeah, and most of the time, bonus videos on singles are included into .MOV formats, so you cant play them on dvds, but you can just move the single file off the cd without any encoding or anything, and pop it onto your computer and play in quicktime just like you would any other video you would download, and im guessing its the same thing for MPG?
does anyone have a link they could send where i can hear this illusive version? lol or links to the remixes. id buy it if i could, but the single doesnt look like it will be being released in australia, and im not going to buy online coz i dont trust online stuff, and money order is just a pain in the ass

and you wouldnt be able to play this, or the majority of other singles released with a "vcd" or "music video" on even the best dvd players. i dont have the single and proberbly never will coz ive cheaked all my local australian music stores and they have no record of the single coming out. but im guessing that the single is a "music cd with extra files" meaning, the videos are just extra files in the cd directorys and arnt envoded into anything a dvd player would recognise (i think it needs vob structures or somthing like that) but yeah, and most of the time, bonus videos on singles are included into .MOV formats, so you cant play them on dvds, but you can just move the single file off the cd without any encoding or anything, and pop it onto your computer and play in quicktime just like you would any other video you would download, and im guessing its the same thing for MPG?
does anyone have a link they could send where i can hear this illusive version? lol or links to the remixes. id buy it if i could, but the single doesnt look like it will be being released in australia, and im not going to buy online coz i dont trust online stuff, and money order is just a pain in the ass
my email is beanarts@hotmail.com if you feel generouse enough to send it though, but im not really worried if no one does, i just wanted to say my bit on the videos ;) :) av a nice day all
The Nobodies was never released in Australia originally so I didn't think the remix would be. Deadstar.net had the remix on there awhile ago.

So, can you buy this at a store or do you have to order it from the official website?

Depends on where you live. If your in the US, you'll have to get it imported because it wasn't released here. There are some stores that carry import CD's, but more than likely you'll have to order it off the net.
Unfortunately, you cannot order it off the official site though.

I got mine for 15 dollars straight up from Korea. A friend of mine was visiting family so I asked him to pick it up for me and he did :D I'm happy.
