Thus far according to my RULES, which aren't restrictions as

Despite some very vocal critics and their whiney critiques, I really feel like he's a pretty damned good addition to the band, especially considering the short notice with which he became a member. I really like the raw, Stooges-esque quality he brings to some songs...I think after the somewhat staid nature of John 5's technique the band could use a little more "RAWK."
And people get their panties in a twist over his stage-stance, but I think he looks cool as hell. His legs-splayed, battle-ready action pose kicks ass, as far as I'm concerned. As it stands now, he's basically in the same position Zimmy was when he started...but Mark seems to "own" the role alot more effectively. Zimmy seemed too shy and looked like he was scared shitless with stagefright most of the time, imho. Which wasn't without its own charm, mind you...but Mark looks like he means business to me.
I'm all for 'im.
(I voted for the second rating bracket...I'd give 'im an 8)

He might have messed up in the first few concerts on the tour, but by the time they reached Orlando he must have gotten better. I didn't see or hear what all the complaint was about. I didn't notice any screw-ups so he must have performed well. 9-10 for me.
Shangri-LIE
12-13-2004, 01:26 PM
He had to make quite an adjustment. His style previous to Manson was so rugged, and loose. He really had to tighten
up for these songs. I knew he would turn out just fine. So
all of you haterz and complainer bois can shut the fuck up
now. (;

OK ONE , I got a lot of emails from Manson fans who thought MArk was ME at the beginging of this tour ... weeee he aint meeee
I met Mark in Orlando , cool guy ...
Guitar wise ??? He did O K , not bad but certainly not that great either ... If Manson called me Tomorrow and gave me the set list , I would do a better job in just 3 days practice , but I better get paid well ...
Now that I am endorsed by Schecter Guitars myself , I am also ready equipment wise as I believe my Schecter guitars have a much better sound and crunch for Mansons music than the Les Paul and Marshall amp his current guitarist seems to be "using"
I give Mark a 7 , Zim Zum a 3 , Daisy a 10 just on originality and 5 a 9.5 ....
Tho out of all those guitarist John 5 is by FAR the best and most versitile of the guitarist ever to play for Manson . FUnny how this is the second guitarist Manson has taken from ROb Halford , if anyone remembers John played for Halford in the band TWO which was produced by Mr Reznor also , anyone see a pattern to it all yet?

no but seriously... I think Manson just saw something in him that we dont...but he's a great guitar player though...just maybe not used to play those songs...I dont think he was a huge Manson fan before he got in the band... anyways he makes me laugh when he does this move where he points the crowd with his guitar ...this is a very cheesy 80s metal move LOL

I have always done the whole "gun" thing when i play along to my cd's or jam with my buds. Especially on Valentines Day. I don't
knwo if anyone noticed the palm mute in the chorus almost sounds like a gun being cocked. You can emulate that effect by
palm muting all 6 strings as opposed to the normally tabbed
top 3 strings.
Anyways, Peirce...you say you are endorsed? Who are you, and
why do we care. Just curios.... (don't take it as harsh as it sounds)
Plus I wouldn't even need to practice. I have played these songs since I was fucking 14, and I am going on 23 now.
But I like Mark, from what I have heard. He can only get better.
I just hope Manson gives him a chance.

the new guitarist sounds good but then again there really isn't anything that hard for him to learn, but i do not like him he doesn't bring anything new to the band, every other guitarist has had their own look something unique about him. and whil on the subject of new people in the band , i know he isnt very new anymore but i dislike tim skold as well he just looks like he wants to be twiggz actually the new guitarist seems to be trying the twiggz look as well

I think Skold was been doing the whole androgynous thing for quite a while now and if its twiggy's look, I think the whole band has done it at one point.

Look at pictures of Tim from a long time ago, long before he joined ranks with Manson. He's always looked the same. He's not trying to be anyone.
I gave Mark an 8. I saw him in Vegas, and though I did hear him mess up a little, it wasn't anything that was distracting or ruined the overall amazing experience.
Mr_Hollywood
12-19-2004, 06:57 PM
I give Mark a solid 6, simply because when i saw him, he was still a little rough around the edges. I saw him in San Francisco, and he did pretty good actually. Nothing at all that was apparently bad. The only noticeable part that i did notice was that he played the opening intro to lunchbox a bit fast. Manson had to motion him to slow down a tiny bit, but it was all gravy after that.
A thought just popped up after reading a few replies. I think maybe Manson might have chosen Mark because he wasn't a big Manson fan, so he would try to own up the whole damn stage. Seriously, I keep hearing all these people say that they know the guitar parts better than Mark, and if they were the guitarist they would think they would know everything and there ego would just grow and grow from an already huge one. We all know that Manson's ego is enormous, and if he had a guitarist that thought they knew it all, than maybe they would clash with the other band members and they wouldn't be able to get along. Creative conflicts might occur.
Or it could be the other way around, one of these Manson-whore guitarists might be too afraid and shy when it came time for them to get onstage and they might just totally fuck up there parts, and not really say much when it came to writing the songs. They might also be intimidated by the rest of the band.
Mark seems to be the tall, brooding metal head. He is subserviant, catches on quickly, and seems to have some decent skill. With a little more practice, he may actually gain a good stage presence. He seemed pretty lively during Antichrist Superstar at SF. I for one like the whore. He seems to ooze potential, and knowing him as a metal head just makes me think of a more metal influence on Manson's next album, which makes me tingle in pants.
PS. Do i write too much?

If i remember, the latest set of guitar players in manson don't have the diva/killer name. Tim Skold, John 5, Zim Zum, Mark Chausee. That thing died way back during Antichrist Superstar.

You must not be able to play guitar well or know guitar well or be able to play Manson's song if you rated the new guitarist anything over 4. I saw them early november then eary december and he still didn't make too much of a improvement. Yeah he can play the songs but you got to think this is Manson and alot of people on this board probably could do a better job than the guy he hired on. If he's creative then that is a huge plus since he lacks in his ability atleast the two nights i saw them live. You shouldn't be able to easily pick out errors made by guitarist on a live performance.

I gave him 5-8. He did a good job, and the only mistake he made was in the beginning of Tainted Love. This was planned however and happened in the 3 shows I was at. Everytime he messed up in the same place and everytime Manson waved good-bye to him like he was fired or something. He wasn't AMAZING but he didn't FUCK IT UP either. HAIL SATAN.

The thing I don't really like about Mark, is he keeps screwing up, I’ve seen him in Toronto where he just destroyed(in the bad way) Sweet Dreams, and in other bootlegs I’ve seen and herd he just can't play them right, it almost like he didn't have to addition like the Zimmy of John5, it was just like, "Oh he played for Danzig, he’s in" but if there would have been some kind of addition then they could have found someone better

I think i would give him an 8. He makes little mistakes but he is under alot of pressure coming from a smaller band into a massive band. And manson needs to treat him better as well. If he stopped giving him the finger so much maybe he would play all the songs perfect. And also from what i've seen he doesn't have bad stage pressence either.
