Ok basically pick a few songs, let's say, no more than 16. Choose 16 different bands to cover each one of the songs you choose.

My tribute is going to be called

The King's Marilyn Manson Metal Tribute!

Of course all the bands listed here may not be influenced by Manson or may not even LIKE Manson, but it's my god damn tribute album! :P

This is the New Shit - Mudvayne

The Nobodies - System of a Down
Disposable Teens - Fear Factory
Irresponsible Hate Anthem - God Forbid

TimothySkold6
09-20-2004, 07:01 PM
Cause even if this "tribute" album did happen she wouldn't be able to do it because Manson wrote the song 30 years after she died.

I just wanted to point that out.

Carry on

You put far too much time into it.

King, Mudvayne wouldn't work doing the New Shit imo. It's esentially an anti-pop pop rock song, just a little heavier. It's just not Mudvayne's style.

then again, this is purely a ficticious thread, so I will include a bonus track of Ethel merman doing a disco remix of Dogma.

Oh come on! Mudvayne would do wonders! I love their sound, their drummer would probably throw in a better drum beat than Ginger's and Kud screamin "ARE YOU MOTHER FUCKERS READDDDDDDY" would be so awesome!

Kud would be nifty, and the drumming would be thunderous, in addition to some intricate bass work in place of the keyboard parts. but I'm not sure if they would fit the theme of the song. but i see your point.

a lot of you guys don't even seem to be thinking about how these songs would sound when covered by these particular bands. The three that I have are three that I racked my brain imagining and have decidedthat ae all worthy. I couldn't see myself painstakingly figuring out 16 tracks when three proved so difficult.

Doll-Dagga-Buzz-Buzz-Ziggety-Zag performed by METALLICA

Target Audience performed by Elton John (it could happen)

The Golden Age of Grotesque performed by Tom Waits

aside from Tom Waits doing GAoG, those other two would probably suck royally, especially the Metallica one.

Metallica would do a great job with DDBBZZ, especially if they could get the London Symphony Orchestra to do some background music. It wouldn't sound like the original swing heil stomp-a-long, but it'd be a great song. Metallica needs a lot of lyrics to work with, and that song provides them better than any other Manson song. the only other song I could see them even sort of doing would be 'Astonishing Panorama of the End Times,' but that's entirely to expected.

As for Elton John's cover, I think it would be fabulous. Just imagine his voice singing the chorus, backed up by his piano: "I see all the young believers / your target audience"

EDIT: Fix my sieg!

i would take many differnet women of age and ethnicity and have them purge on gready food for 3 days. i would then record there farts and i would be the ass gass conductor to reproduce mason's greatest.
1. dope show--thin women 23yrs old(more squeaky)
2. irresponsible hate anthem--heavy set women 45 that could provide alot of heavy base effects and occasional blow out accidents
3. speed of pain--thin women 15yrs to have that virginal sweet-effect
4. dope hat--obese women to be able to squeeze out repetive blasts to reinact the drum heavy beat. just picture it
5. this is the new sheet-20yr old medium women to provide fans w/ some real new sheet.
6.count to 6 and die--60yr old women on death bed to give 6 last deaf defing shots before keeling over in a rectal harmony.
7.disposable teens--80yr old woment to play through those deepends to filter through her disposables.
8. presidents dead. --an all 50 yr old salut to hail the king in a final liberal blast. every vote counts
9. wrapped in plastic--30 yr old women squeezes out rapid fire on the platic wrapped couch for a more vengful effect.

James singing "All you pin down girls and bonafide ballers" is not cool! Now, if they did Astonishing Panorama, it may be expected, but it would sound kick ass! Perhaps they could do Wrapped in Plastic, but DDBBZZ is just, I dunno, too hip for them in a way. Their aesthetics are so far apart; Manson actually has one.

The Elton John cover could work, as sort of a slower, more dramatic cover.

TERROJA
09-21-2004, 03:11 PM
I don't think you're hearing the Metallica cover like I do.

I'm not seeing them trying to capture the Manson aesthetic that the song symbolizes, but bringing its guttural undercurrents to the forefront.

Honestly... It was a good idea for a cover and a good cover, but the vocals were really whiney and off.

Work on your vocals, when you recorded that were you playing piano and singing?? Cause if you were it shows because you can hear you stumbling on some of the piano parts while singing.

I'm surprised at the number of people on here that like Zeromancer. I was going to use them for a band on "my tribute album", but I figured nobody knew who they were. Then again, I used the Mad Capsule Markets so- one little-known band was enough. And I must say, every one of these potential tribute albums would be awesome!

Work on your vocals, when you recorded that were you playing piano and singing?? Cause if you were it shows because you can hear you stumbling on some of the piano parts while singing.

I prefer to do it that way, i get more feeling into it
But alas, my vox I cannot change, they are whiney...live with it...

And for those who haven't checked it out, I attempted to recreate what I thought the first two songs I listed would sound like (minus the vocals of course, use your imagination ;))

1.) Mudvayne - This is the New Shit (http://chrisvelez.com/music/titns.mp3)

2.) Slayer - The Reflecting God (incomplete) (http://chrisvelez.com/music/slayer-trg-premix.mp3)

I plan on getting back on the ball soon probably by doing the CoF-GBWW and SOAD-Nobodies ones next up on the list.

Creative? Most people have just picked their favourite metal bands and stuck the name of a Manson song next to them.

I do however, like your avatar.

Right, here's mine:

1. Monster Magnet - Mr Superstar
Big egosexymanrock style. Perfect opener.

2. Alkaline Trio - The Man That You Fear
Morbid lyrics? check. Catchy tune? Check. All they'd need to do is speed it up a bit. I'd actually give my left testicle to hear this.

3. Mark Lanegan - Lamb of God
Leather lunged Lanegan would turn this into a broody acoustic masterpiece.

4. Tom Waits - Golden Age of Grotesque
He'd fuck this one up good'n'proper, with some weird vocals and drunk ramblings.

5. Goldfrapp - User Friendly
Sexy disco-sleaze.

6. Eminem - (S)Aint
He wouldn't need to change all that much, thinking about it...

7. Radiohead - Speed of Pain
Manson ripped the beginning off Radiohead, so it's only fair.

8. Rob Zombie - Misery Machine
Perfect Rob Zombie stuff, bugs and skeletons and stuff.

9. Mindless Self Indulgence - This Is The New Shit
They'd make it all fast and gimpy.

10. Sarah McLachlan -Coma White
Beautiful voice. Just her and a piano, this would rule.
