Tim Skold's involvement with Marilyn Manson began as the role of producer. Tim co-produced the 2003 LP The Golden Age of Grotesque. Tim Skold has been described by Marilyn Manson as "the power that attitude brings to an album."
Long-time former bassist Twiggy Ramirez split with the band due to creative conflicts and joined A Perfect Circle. Tim Skold filled the slot for bassist shortly thereafter.
In January 2008 it was announced Tim Skold has amicably split with Manson, but future collaborations aren’t being ruled out between the two.
